Biography of Underground Resistance

This is the highly secretive, Black Planet office/studio located in a 1200 sq. ft. soundproofed loft. It is a very productive room and serves as the nerve center for UR operations.

Since 1991, UR's many live appearances (called assaults) worldwide have cemented the labels place in history. They were the first Detroit based act to actually play techno live and the first group to use a DJ as an actual bandmember! The shows are an exciting blend of man and machine. The bands skill, musicianship, disciplined manners and intelligent interviews have made them and the label some of the most respected ambassadors of 'Detroit Techno' all over the world.

In rare and carefully calculated interviews Mad Mike spreads UR's message worldwide. The results - inspired youth all over the world form their own companies, industries and opinions based on reality rather than force fed preprogrammed stereotypes. The goal of creating a musically based product that would sell without going through the traditional channels of magazines, radio and TV is realized by cleverly using technology. First by utilizing the power of the fax machine and currently the immense vastness of Cyberspace (the internet). On the net, UR can patrol the world in seconds, reaching millions without middlemen! By the late 1990's, UR reached it's goal of an invisible yet extremely powerful army of members worldwide on schedule (see The Swarm - 101st UR airborne)!

UR is an adaptive, mobile and fiercely competitive company not dependent on trends, gimmicks or fads as are other forms of music and their related industries are today. Instead, UR evolves as tecnology evolves and by inspiring youth to create, we actually are ahead of time and make technology come to us. We are confident that this music will without a doubt lead man into the future as it is the only music that can evolve in step with or before technology. Other forms of music and their related industries face certain extinction due to definition and repeated copying for profit! UR and Techno are one in the same - both without definition.

Comment: I like UR, but I am not too keen on a lot of hardcore circa '92. Don't get me wrong, anthems DO exist, it's just that I'm not a huge fan and obviously UR were swept up in the whole hardcore vibe of the time. This mix is nowhere near as good as some others I've heard. Still, there are some nice acid and more Detroit-style tracks in the mix. Overall though, not too impressive, and there is faaaar too much MCing :=|(like I said, we're talking about hardcore here!).

Comment: IF u like hardcore music of the day this is gonna make u wanna move very distorted very Underground Resistance theres even Jeff Mills on the decks here from what i gather & did I mention a version of Human Resource the Denominator in there to more near the end of the set, the last tune is also pretty filthy techno with a hardcore edge which is worth the wait. This was recorded in 1992 so it is when UR were more hard than anything else.

Comment: Don't get me wrong UR is some classic stuff. That being said, the tracks are great-but you can hardly hear them cause of the MCing. I love Detroit, but I don't need to hear it every two minutes. If you need to rember days gone by, then by all means take a listen, but it's definetly not a great set. Short, not the greatest quality, tons of mic feedback. I certainly enjoyed the FuseIn 2005 set much better.

Comment: If you were someone who enjoyed hardcore parties at Limelight in the early to mid 90’s, pick this set up! The audio quality is a little sub par but that’s okay. This Detroit Techno/Acid set kicks ass. Listening to it, in my head I could see the chapel perfectly and the controlled chaos the existed in NYC number one club. Overlooking the Dance floor from the second floor platform, as it’s packed with divas, club kids, ravers and tourists as the beats knock and the green and purple lights flood it. If you were there you know what I’m talking about.
