Biography of Superpitcher

Superpitcher is Aksel Schaufler, a German producer with close ties to Cologne's Kompakt label. Like a lot of other producers on that label, it's nearly impossibly to predict exactly what he'll do next. He made his first appearance on Kompakt's Total 2 compilation in 2000 with “Shadows,' an eerie trip-hop production seemingly designed to soundtrack a 3 A.M. drive down a foggy urban alley. In 2001, he contributed a track to Kompakt's first Speicher 12' and released Heroin, a three-track 12' with three different sounds; “Tomorrow' was later included on that year's Total 3. 2002's Total 4 included yet another track from Schaufler, a straightforward electro-pop cover of Brian Eno's “Baby's on Fire.' Soon after that, Schaufler released his second 12', Yesterday, which featured re-workings of “Tomorrow' and “Heroin.'

He also made another appearance that year on Kompakt's fourth Speicher 12'. Since stepping out, Schaufler has done steady remixing work for the likes of Dntel, Carsten Jost, Contriva Phantom/Ghost, and several others. In spring 2004, Superpitcher released his most dynamic work yet with Here Comes Love. A year later, he released a mix album for Kompakt called Today.

Comment: how can you argue with a tracklist like that? add smoothalicious mixing throughout + you've got a fantastic glitchy minimal set. he does diverge from his "norm" with some vocal tracks + finishes off with a reggae tune "running free" by keiko voss. absolutely lovely!

it's damn good quality for 112 kbps. enjoy!

Comment: Although not as hard as the full spectrum set, this is still a great set. It starts out kind of jazzy and builds and brings the techo to the front, but smooth. Superpitcher is still amazing and the little interview at the end is almost endearing.

Comment: Very good set, if youre up for something a bit on the chill side, a couple of the ending tracks are not dance but he makes it work. It´s the kinda thing i play in a rainy sunday afternoon chilling.

Comment: in comparison to superpitcher's full spectrum set in utrecht, this one is a lot less dance and a lot more musical. the tracks are beautifully selected, and he has such a wonderful way of coordinating together tracks. For instance he goes from kohncke to trulz and robin, he's really caused this trulz and robin song to become lodged in my brain. i'm addicted to this track, and i can imagine if it were mixed the wrong way, it could be one of those that really come off as annoying. the dramatic german lyrics are a little overpowering for the mix, however if you speak german and you translate them, the message becomes a little more intense. this set is definately atmospheric and sets a unique depth and spacial tone.

Comment: Great and inspired mix, exactly the glitchy mental cyberdisco flavor I was expecting. I don't know much about Superpitcher for now, and will definitely look into :)

Comment: very interesting, the kompakt boys keep flying the flag for forward thinking techno, and the melodic aspect of their stuff takes us back to detrot

Comment: The songs that he brings together... it's amazing. The sound flows and brings you along and you can be sitting around or driving or at a club and it just takes you there.
This guy is awesome. I definitely recommend.

Comment: Well i never downloaded a chill liveset like this before. I like the songs but i'm not really pleased about the recording quality in the beginning of the set. I also heard a bad transition... But nevertheless, a good set for one of your peaceful evenings
