Moimir Papalescu and the Nihilists > a czech band with real romanian flavour, combine elements of electronic music, punk, rock n roll and ballroom.
Four people joined their musical roots, inspirations and thoughts to make Eastern Europes response to the musical history of Western Europe over the last 40 years.
Moimir Papalescu (analogue & digital machines) was a member of famous czech avantgarde bands Gun Dreams and Vanessa.
Hank Jesus Manchini (guitars/vocals), former member of cult prague post punk band Rany Tela (Body Wounds) supported such artists as Bob Dylan and Iggy Pop, amongst others.
La Petite Sonja (vocals), a mesmerising angel with a devil in her throat, performs the vocal blasts in the penetrating and provocative lyrics.
Ultimate SAX attack is provided by Peter van Krbetz who co-operated earlier with guitarist Mike Stern and legendary Czech alterno rock groups Vltava and Psi Vojaci, and has also featured in various prague BIG BAND groups.
The Drummer Wratislaw Placheta (ex Houseboat, now Green Monster) provides the band with his powerful percussion.
Alternating Nihilists sing, shout, and let fly over digital / analogue beats and guitars ripping the guts out of Visage, Suicide, Joy Division etc., throwing in some Sex Pistols for flavour, and then garnish the whole affair as you only thought Kraftwerk could ... until now.
Reggae it isn`t ... A full menu it is ... a diverse dish ... and all your old musical references appear and then subsequently disappear, disappear within milli-seconds ... replaced and refreshed ... re-REFRESHED and shiny shiny new.
Believe it or not, this is THE purest form of the real Romanian sense of love, sport, sex and religion.
