Biography of Superpitcher

Superpitcher is Aksel Schaufler, a German producer with close ties to Cologne's Kompakt label. Like a lot of other producers on that label, it's nearly impossibly to predict exactly what he'll do next. He made his first appearance on Kompakt's Total 2 compilation in 2000 with “Shadows,' an eerie trip-hop production seemingly designed to soundtrack a 3 A.M. drive down a foggy urban alley. In 2001, he contributed a track to Kompakt's first Speicher 12' and released Heroin, a three-track 12' with three different sounds; “Tomorrow' was later included on that year's Total 3. 2002's Total 4 included yet another track from Schaufler, a straightforward electro-pop cover of Brian Eno's “Baby's on Fire.' Soon after that, Schaufler released his second 12', Yesterday, which featured re-workings of “Tomorrow' and “Heroin.'

He also made another appearance that year on Kompakt's fourth Speicher 12'. Since stepping out, Schaufler has done steady remixing work for the likes of Dntel, Carsten Jost, Contriva Phantom/Ghost, and several others. In spring 2004, Superpitcher released his most dynamic work yet with Here Comes Love. A year later, he released a mix album for Kompakt called Today.

Comment: Very cool, reaching into the minimal and the electro and mixing it all with a clear sound. I wanted to hear some of the stuff before seeing live. I truly can't wait now. It should be a great set, if this is even an example on a bad day.

Comment: 8-) mindpumping and stylisch... If you like Acid-Hous-Style, ass-shakin beats and wavez which make your eyes roll back and forth, try this...otherwise, do either...
I was remebered on a set i listened live a few days ago: Lexy and K. Paul...maybe it will help 8-)

Comment: Not bad mix of smooth yet dirty at times techno-acid-house??? add in any other label. The mixing is a bit slow for me, but it goes with the style.

Comment: i thought the beginning of this set was a sign of good things to come, but it just hung around... kinda went bla. it's still a pretty good set and the sound quality was good. i think i'd be more likely to just chill to it though...

Comment: this is a really great mix! sadly i could have been there, what was i thinking!? a lot of people hate superpitcher. he is certainly on another plane, and for the most part i think that's why. people try and "figure" this one out, but there is nothing to figure out. he's just going to play what he likes, and either you like it or you don't. he rides the line of cheezy vocals to the max, and it works to his favor. his mixes do have style and flavor all to their own. sexy. i find myself strutting around forming intense ideas, as he creates such a sound scape that most of the tracks sound beyond what anyone could expect their potential to be. he is definately showing the potential in a creative way.

Comment: I have become a pretty big fan of Superpitcher. This set is nice and long. Audio quality could be better but is still pretty OK. The set is overall great but I has some tracks that just drop amazingly. Superpitcher sets seem to always feature great track selection and mixing and this set is no exception. No once did I want to skip to the next track. Highly Recommended.

Comment: I downloaded this on the back of an awesome set by Supermayer at this years Kompaky party at Nitsa as part of Sonar. They were brilliant there and this mix goes a long way to show why even though Mayer is actually missing as the other half on this it is still a great mix and if you were lucky enough to catch them this year you wont be disappointed! Get this while you can

Comment: This is a decent minimal set, a bit flat at times and well-textured with layers of minimal goodness in others. Overall I recommend the download and would have enjoyed being at this event to experience it live.

Comment: i really really love this mix , right from the spacey distorted vocal at the begining to the heavy useage of Kompakt tunes in the first half and the inclusion of his own productions and cobblestone jazz tunes , then about half way through the mix the mood changes and becomes more jacking with a nod towards more techno styled detroit and chicago sounds before heading back towards his own "baby's on fire" then through a quick blast of Nathan Fake - the sky was pink and then it all seems to go mad heavy techno for half an hour before heading back towards his own superbe production "happiness" to finish off the mix all in all an awesome mix
