Biography of DJ BITKID

In 1996 DJ BITKID (aka DJ SIAD) started spinning records, playing mainly hiphop and house. because LINZ (austria), the hometown of BITKID, is not really big, the different scenes in that time were not really seperated and so it was just a matter of time for him to discover the other parts of electronic music. techno and jungle shaped the spectrum of bitkid's dj-sets for the following two or three years. in that time the first _MACHINES_ were bought and the first homegrown trax emerged from the depths of a atari 1040st, a dynacord sampler and yamaha dx7.

In 1998, bitkid moved to graz to study sound engineering @ the local university. in this year, DJ ALIVE & BITKID met @ a party in graz where DJ ALIVE was playing. after knowing each other for a couple of days, they decided to merge their studios and SYNCMODE was born. the first syncmode pieces were experimental electro and weird techno trax, inspired by the sexy nipples of a korg synth cascade (ms10,ms20,ms50&sq10), a 808 and a mpc2000.

1999 was the year of nuskool drum'n'bass and electro for dj bitkid and as a member of the drum'n'bass crew MORPHED he is still organising parties in linz together with NDL and KEMOKA. after a short visit in vienna, ALIVE and BITKID moved to the netherlands for nearly a year. most of the trax for the SYNCMODE ep01 were produced there. one of year of weird work at a WEIRD start-up company in den bosch were enough, so SYNCMODE decided to go back to vienna.

In summmer 2001 they organised some parties in an old aerial surveillance base, the place where they were living. in autumn 2001 they moved into a flat in vienna, where they set up their studio again. Since then, both of them, ALIVE and BITKID are doing dj- and livegigs (as SYNCMODE) in all over austria and abroad. Together with PHISH, BITKID also performs as a part of BREAKIN STEVENS, a electronic live band, covering old 50s,60s and 70s songs and messing them up with phat beats and weird sounds.

Comment: This has crisp, bleeping beats, funky chunky bass and fun tracks. Some of the tracks are really likeable while some of them are filler. The filler tracks are glitchy and hard. Some are downbeat, some are upbeat. The surprising thing is how it all holds together in the mix. Get this one!
