Biography of DJ Chiclet
Over the past 8 years, Chiclet has worked her way through countless raves, club residencies, and special events to become one of Toronto's most recognized and versatile DJs. She holds current residencies with Viva Nightclub and Room 19 and has held past residencies with Purple Heaven Productions, Film Lounge and Charlie's (inside the Guvernment). She has played at several special events and clubs around Ontario and Quebec including the World Electronic Music Festival, Pride Toronto, Toronto Pride Ball, Hullabaloo, Destiny Fridays, System Soundbar, Sound Emporium, Mad Bar, Limelight, and many more. She has performed alongside many world-class DJs including Commander Tom, Lady Dana, Cosmic Gate, Kevin Energy, and many more.
With her specialty being Trance, Chiclet is also known to masterfully blend several different genres including Progressive, Breaks, Electro and House. A unique mixing style and technical prowess, combined with eclectic track selection, eagerness to experiment, and a vibrant stage presence make Chiclet a welcome addition to any event.
In 1997, with a single turntable, a cheap mixer, and an even cheaper CD Walkman, Chiclet taught herself to spin. She practiced and practiced until she went to Queen's University and played some of her very first gigs in Kingston, Ontario. Small Raves were her staple until the year 2000, when she won the Eyespin DJ Competition and gained enough recognition to play at larger parties in Toronto, as well as guest spots on Global Groove Radio and 1groove.com, and a residency with Purple Heaven Productions. In 2001, she moved back to Toronto to attend Ryerson University for Radio & TV Arts and became a resident at Film Lounge. She supplemented her residency playing several after-hours parties around Ontario and Quebec. In 2003, Purple Heaven Productions disbanded and Chiclet focused on music and video production. In 2004, Chiclet became a resident at Room 19 in Markham, playing mainly Hard Trance. Currently, she is a resident at Viva Nightclub, one of Greater Toronto's premier clubs with one of the best intelligent lighting systems in the province.
