Biography of Ty Tek

Ty’s been playing records for eight years and producing for six. Born and raised in Pueblo, CO, Ty was one of the leading forces to expose Pueblo to the world of dance music. Ty’s uncle was a sound technician and music maker for an Industrial band named Attack/Decay and was Ty’s biggest influence in studio engineering. Brought up on a healthy diet of bands such as TKK, Skinny Puppy, Coil, and Nitzer Ebb, Ty knew that music was the career of his future. Self taught and eager to play, Ty found his first residency at Evolution Night Club (Pueblo, CO, 1994-1996), with a four night per week schedule. Being on the decks for this amount of time, Ty gained the knowledge of DJ/Crowd interaction and took it to a new level.Ty moved to Denver, CO in 1997 for a Film/Video Production degree. In this time, Ty met Koa Franconi (Superstar Productions/ DJ Keoki’s brother) and started one of the longest Thursday club/dance nights in Denver’s history. With crowds reaching 1500+ a night, Ty was able to spread his musical message to the masses. Tracks 2000 closed it's doors in 2001, but this was far from the end. Factory Of Dreams Night Club has taken it's place with the same old school feel the original Tracks 2000 was notorious for. Check out www.factoryofdreams.com for more info on Ty's new Thursday night home.

VINYL NIGHT CLUB (DENVER, CO, 2001-present):
Ty met Jason and Brad of Together Productions and started a new night to fill the place of Tracks 2000’s hiatus. Vinyl Night Club (www.1082broadway.com) is one of Denver’s premier hot spots, with National and International talent showcased on a weekly basis. Ty began his Saturday night residency here and has been able to play alongside some of the worlds best DJ’s. ( Richie Hawtin, Derrick May, Carl Cox, Fat Boy Slim, Pete Tong, Derrick Carter, Saeed & Palash, Deep Dish, DJ Dan, Moby, Donald Glaude, and many more of the same caliber). Vinyl has been Ty’s best experience to date with more fun times to come!

THE CHURCH NIGHT CLUB ( DENVER, CO- 2003-present):
Ty has found a residency every other Saturday at this world renowned club. Some of the biggest names in electronic music have made their way through this magnificent club. Check out www.the-church.com for more info.

PHRUNKY RECORDINGS (2003-present):
Alongside label partner Little Mike, Ty runs his own record label, which is already gaining momentum and receiving acclaim from the worlds top DJ’s and producers. Check out www.phrunky.com for all info regarding this label. To contact anyone at Phrunky Recordings, please email us at phrunky@aol.com.

CASA DEL SOUL: (1999-present):
In 1999 Ty joined Casa Del Soul. This group of DJ's: Sensé, Catt, Foxx, Little Mike, and Wyatt Earp, are friends; co-workers within the Casa Del Soul Record Label and the leading choice of talent in Colorado. Their main focus is to push innovative music to their listeners. Casa Del Soul Records has received critical acclaim by DJ’s/Producers from all over the world with releases from Ty Tek & Little Mike 'Casafied Modern Music 2' featured on Lee Burridge’s Nu-Breed mix compilation. Other Casa releases have found homes on compilations from Lexicon Avenue, Doc Martin (Fabric 10) and was on Muzik magazine’s list of top tech-house recommened labels of 2002. Casa Del Soul’s store front was badly damaged by a freak snowstorm in March, 2003, forcing their doors to shut. The future of Casa is still strong and the label will go on with an even bigger force!

DIRTY BLUE RECORDS (LIVERPOOL, UK- 2002-present):
Ty met label boss Alex Buchanan (www.minimalrecords.com) in 2002. Alex was just beginning a new sister label to his already well received minimal records and decided Ty’s production work was a perfect match. Ty’s first two releases on Dirty Blue have gotten great reviews from top-notch magazines such Mixer, Muzik, IDJ, URB and more on the way.

SWEAT RECORDS (2229 LARIMER ST, DENVER,CO 80205; 2003-present):
After the collapse of Casa Del Soul Record’s store front, a new home for the supply of Denver’s dance music was in need. Zac Larsen (store owner) was just the person to fill that place. In June of 2003, Sweat Records opened it’s doors with Ty Tek and Little Mike in charge of sales/marketing/ordering. Sweat Records is off to a great start and will continue to have the same energy and quality that Casa Del Soul provided.

Ty’s main focus is and will remain to be, creating quality dance music and keep the life and energy that he’s had since the very beginning!
