Biography of Sven Vath

Sven Vath (born 26 October 1964, near Frankfurt, Germany) is a DJ who has produced an extensive range of work since his career began in 1982. From 1985, he was part of the band OFF (acronym for Organization for Fun) which released the hit 'Electrica Salsa' in 1987. He was also one of the founders of trance music labels Harthouse and the now-defunct Eye Q, as well as being among the first DJs to play trance records. In 1995 Mixmag rated his album Accident in Paradise one of the top-50 dance albums of all time; although the title track is a fast techno piece, the rest is far more sedate, such as the track 'Coda,' which features merely a flute and a harpsichord.

Vath is also known as 'RU Ready' and 'Sam Vision'. He has been a member of the groups 16 Bit, Astral Pilot, Barbarella, the Essence of Nature, Metal Master, Metal Masters, Mosaic, and Off. Today he is the owner of the Cocoon Event Media GmbH, which contains his new Label, Cocoon Recordings. He is also the owner of the Cocoon Club in Frankfurt.

Comment: In the summer of 2001, my dream was see the Sven behind the decks in Turkiye and it was realized on October 2001. He's one of my idol from '98. I'm the follower of him and i love his mixing style, productions and performance.. He is the best..

Comment: I remembered Sven Vath more nervous on the turntables thirteen years ago. I suppose he get a little bit quiet now (and maybe a fashion victim)... It's like that. I liked this mix even if I was searching something else.

Comment: Too many vocals, too dark , too much heighties. A bit desappointing ! Even if there'snothing to say about the mix quality. Sven Vath used to make me fly, this time i stayed on the floor, eveb if the sound's quality is on top. I got used too much much better.

Comment: Sven Vath is the friggin man. You gotta love the Techno. This has an awesome track selection to get the groove going. I really loved this mix, fantastic fantastic fantastic! This dude needs to come to Detroit. This is a must have set. One critique though, I could really do without the vocals but they were sparse so I can deal.

Comment: This is the first Sven Vath set I've got, and I'm not overly keen. It's heavily electro influenced and doesn't seem to go in any sort of direction. Although there are some great tracks in this mix, there's an equal number of bad ones, particularly the vocal tracks.

Comment: Some really interesting techno-driven house, though I wouldn't quite call it tech-house. My only complaint is that there are some simply terrible vocals on some of the tracks- "everybody wants to be happy" & "God asked me for a bite of my sammich". I mean there's a line between edgy/weird and just plain stupid and many of the vocals cross far into stupid. Still, worth a shot, if you can ignore some of the vocals (or remix them out).

Comment: Yeah! was pleasantly surprised by this one. Been to a lot of parties but never heard this man in action till now. The audio quality is good and the set is a roller coaster. But with some pretty good highs. Not bad at all

Comment: I know a lot of people love Sven Vath and I've even seen him in his own club in Cocoon Germany and I'm from Ireland but I just don't get all the Hype, maybe its just my taste but I find it a bit cheesy, I like my Techno sounds and Minimal "pots and Pans" sounds, but with Sven it seems a total different style, This set was just not for me, expecting it to be a bit harder at least! This is just my opinion, I'm sure others love it!!
