Biography of Farlan Veraitch

Probably the most eclectic of the default djs, farlan never lets genre boundaries get in the way. His musical influences range from dub reggae to classical indian, hiphop, post-rock and jazz all of which find a way into the electronica he plays. As an advocate of 'live' instrumentation, melody and organic tones expect to hear artists such as leila, pedro, lali puna, telefon tel aviv and dictophone. Above all he maintains that music must evoke some sort of an emotion be it a warm snuggly baseline, a moment of delicate beauty or a haunting vocal.

In addition farlan dips into the world of underground hiphop pushing labels such anticon, defjux, mush and soundink. As electronica and hiphop collide expect to see a new night in birmingham from djs farlan, cro and xela exploring this relatively untapped scene…..

Farlan Veraitch has been a friend of Type since the old days of Default in Birmingham. First a punter, then a superstar dj - we could always trust Farlan to come up with an impeccable and always eclectic set. So, taking a break from the genetic research, he has thrown together a lovely mix of sublime ambient sounds, abrasive post rock and skewed hiphop. Happy New Year!
