Biography of Ed White

From 'bedroom-studio' beginnings to appearances alongside the nation's most prominent disc-jockeys, Edmund White is ready to make an indelible mark on Midwest's underground dance community.

Ed White's mixing career began in 1993. Inspired by Bad Boy Bill and Chicago's B96 Mixmasters, Ed began collecting house vinyl. He absorbed the 'Chicago house sound' and built a music library based on a Cajual records foundation. Throughout the high-school years, Ed honed his mixing and turntable-handling skills through countless hours of practice in his home studio.

Upon his enrollment at the University of Illinois, Edmund White quickly became a fixture in the house and fraternity party scene; maintaining a mobile DJing career, as well as several club residencies. However, through exposure to the Chicago club scene, Ed White realized that his true musical passion lay within the realm of deep, soulful, ethnic and jazz-influenced house. This passion came to life during his tenure at the now-defunct Orchid Nightclub in Champaign, Illinois. Through his Thursday residency at Orchid, DJ Ed White found himself opening for a number of well-established talents, including Derrick Carter, Nigel Richards, Mark Grant, CZR and DJ Funk. Since that time, he has released more than ten mixed-CD's, covering a multitude of house styles... For booking, please contact him via the information provided below.

Comment: I didn't think the different styles of music worked for all mixes. Beatmatching was good, nice tracks ( havn't heard G Velvet, I'm losing my mind in a while), I just couldn't get into certain blending of tracks.

Comment: ;-) So this one is kinda weird. The two genres that the d.j tries to put together(notice I said tries) are just not compatible for most of the mixing. It sounds like he overlay ed tracks, or he just plain train wrecks. I think what he was trying to do is neat but it just didn't work. I love house and i am a freak about tek and this one is not where to get a good idea of either. Maybe a different kind of set would better suit the skills of the d.j. I am not opposed to trying something else by him, it was not the worst I heard but was noticeably lacking. I will listen to it again just to be fair.
