Biography of Disco Helmut

After seeing someone spinning vinyl records up close for the first time in the year 2001, Disco Helmut knew he had found the next means of expressing his life-long passion for music. A classically trained pianist and composer as a teen, and now with a career in astrophysics, Helmut is the modern equivalent of a Renaissance man, with equally strong passions for science, philosophy, art, and music.

Not one for showmanship over substance, his mixing style is one of a curator of danceable artwork. Every mix is created with careful track selection and meticulously crafted blending to create a whole that is more than the sum of its parts. Helmut is especially drawn to funky, soulful, disco-influenced house sounds, without regard to rankings in the charts, or the name of the label or artist.

Although house has its origins in Chicago and New York, Helmut revels in the fact that house is now truly modern, global world-music. It's about bringing people everywhere together in the spirit of love, and that sentiment is consistently reflected in Helmut's style.
