Gerard Hanson was born in 1971 and lives in Plano, Texas. His many influences and inspirations include Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Stefan Robbers, Red Planet and Carl Craig. His productions also have deep associations with the Basic Channel/Chain Reaction sound. Hanson has managed a special way to produce the depth and soulfulness of the Detroit Berlin history, part of which is due to the use of hardware that many of them also employed.
In 1994 Gerard Hanson and Dan Kurzius started 'Hardsync,' a Magazine dedicated to electronic music reviews and artist interviews which became defunct two years later due to a computer crash. It was an outlet for several Texas-based electronic music enthusiasts to reach out to others around the world who shared similar musical interests. He released his first 12' on Matrix in 1995. From 1995 to 1997, he released five EPs and then only two other releases until 2005. Then there was a veritable deluge of incredible remixes and original works produced during the previous decade of public 'silence.'
Hanson has remained purposefully anonymous since his debut release in 1995 but came out of obscurity for a live performance in London in April of 2006. Someof his aliases include E.R.P., Gerard Hanson, I/O and Syne Language.
