HISTORY

DJ B-12's story begins back on Long Island, New York (that's 50 miles east of New York City) around 1992/1993, when he first was exposed to 'hardcore breakbeat' and 'techno' music through some friends who were already into it. After developing a taste for the tunes, he got curious about parties or raves and was later introduced to the New York ‘rave’ scene around 1993/1994.

In 1995, B started spinning on a friend's belt driven decks. This started B's addiction to spinning and buying vinyl. Around early 1996 B saved up for his first pair of turntables, Gemini PT-1000's, and traded them in a few months later for his first pair of Technics.

In these early days B was jumping around genres and played various styles ranging from Trance Breakbeat, Hardcore, Acid Techno, and Techno-House, to Jungle, Ragga and Drum & Bass. He would basically buy whatever he liked at stores like Caffeine, Satellite, Breakbeat Science, Liquid Sky, Temple Records, and Sonic Groove. He was building up a diverse record collection. B was always searching for the sounds and emotion that turned him onto the music in the first place.

1997 Stress Factor Productions (B-12 & Oneduz) was formed. The name came from them spending rediculous amounts of time making mix tapes and the 'stress' of making them as perfect as possible with only turntables and a CD burner.

1999 B became a regular DJ at such weeklies as Wizdom and Taboo on Long Island playing under the name Brian Boom, with his own unique blend of Nuskoo l/ Progressive Breaks, Trance and Trance Breaks. He also played the odd set of Jungle & Drum & Bass.

1999 Stress Factor threw their first rave called Konfusion @ Tantra Lounge out in The Hamptons, on eastern Long Island, among other parties such as Liquid State @ the same location in 2000.

2000, later on that year DJ B-12 discovers the buying power of the web & realizes he can hunt down all those tunes he's wanted since his first earful of UK Hardcore Breakbeat... as long as he's willing to pay the hefty pricetag for importing them from the UK. So B starts buying and playing Oldskool Jungle and Hardcore Breakbeat.

Net Radio History

In 2003, B sends an Oldskool Jungle mix to a friend in the UK (DJ Moody of www.oldskoolmadness.com) and lands his first internet radio show on a UK run radio station www.breakpirates.com). This creates Stress Factor Saturday which sometimes went on for 8 hour shows. Stress Factor Saturday lasted 122 shows thru August of 2005 and had legendary NYC DJs such as DJ Dara, Paul C and Christian Bruna as guests on the show!!

2005, B-12 meets Christian Bruna at an oldskool bash in Manhattan NYC (Christian runs the legendary club Camouflage www.camonyc.com a Drum & Bass weekly on Tuesday nights that has Oldskool nights and has been going on since 1997 .B gives Christian a mix CD. 2006 Christian regularly hires B-12 to play down at Camo for the oldskool nights (some of which sets can be downloaded in the downloads section of www.stressfactor.co.uk). B played a few other events & venues in NYC & Long Island.
