Steve Eagle has been involved with electronic music since he was a kid, back when he began discovering industrial/ebm artists around 1993. One day Steve's brother came home with a mixtape he got in NYC containing tracks by artists like Hardfloor, Speedy J and Dave Angel and Steve's view of music was changed forever. After soaking in these sounds of early 90s Europe - particularly the techno & trance coming out of Germany from labels like Harthouse, MFS and NovaMute - Steve began developing an interest in producing dance music and attempted his first tracks in 1997. Right around this time, like so many other kids his age, Steve discovered the Internet and before he knew it he was knee-deep in several online music communities, a new yet willing participant in a vibrant musical revolution.
Unlike most DJs/producers who got into music in more traditional ways, Steve used the Internet as a way to learn and improve on his production skills, network with likeminded artists and develop his own voice in the often overcrowded electronic music arena. After much networking and collaborating with international artists, Steve joined Raw42, an electronic music A&R and publishing company in the UK, and wrote reviews for several up-and-coming producers. He continued to write for online publications and joined forces with ElectronicScene in 2001, which has now become the best place on the Internet to find new and unsigned electronic music. Eventually after all of this collaborative work, Steve wanted to focus on his own pursuits and formed the Heavy Industries label in the winter of 2001 with his good friend Simex.
In addition to running Heavy Industries, Steve is a member of the Droid Behavior collective here in Los Angeles and active in any techno-oriented venture that happens to arise. Still, his mission is to arrange a live PA to take on the road, and soon this dream will be made a reality. Look for upcoming Fabrik Nos productions on 12' releases by Droid Recordings and Heavy Industries later this year.
