For the last 12 months, Jay Bulletproof has been hard at work, touring the planet and creating the next full length Bulletproof LP. The results of this one year journey are already evident. Spanning 4 different countries and Incorporating the talents of some of the scenes leading producers and vocalists, Bulletproof is now proud to present his finest musical achievement to date.
'Dark Times - Desperate Measures'(DT-DM) is a futuristic journey though the mind of one of drum n bass' most prolific producers, Incorporating all of the musical elements that any fan of bulletproof has come to expect. Precision production, flawless funk and futuristic take on Drum n Bass that bulletproof is renowned for, which jay has seamlessly combined with conscious lyrics courtesy of New Zealand's musical midas, Tiki Taane, and respected L.A Vocalist / Rapper MC Dino. Broadcasting an explosive message of Cause & Effect, change or consequence DT-DM is a powerfully diverse album brimming with an exciting intensity rarely captured in drum n bass.
When asked of the concept behind 'Dark Times - Desperate Measures' jay explains. 'I'm possibly a little bit paranoid. I have fear for the direction our planet is heading. Not just for myself, but for my son, I mean what kind of world are we leaving for our kids?
Jay goes on to say 'The world has spun out of control, and thats pretty much the vibe behind the album. Humanity needs to start taking Desperate Measures to curb the dark times were living in. The vocal tracks on the album talk about the things that are not only important to me and my friends, but evident in todays society, and that everybody should at least be aware of. Im not trying to preach anything to anyone, but im lucky enough to have been able to inspire people with my music in the past. If this album can do the same, then every sacrifice was worth it.
The album artwork plays a major role in helping people understand what im trying to express and does it in a disturbingly beautiful kind of way. The water theme depicts the direct consequence of global warming. Each 12' cover symbolizes cause and effect. Effects that are now nearly unavoidable.
With lyrical inspirations drawn from names like that of rage against the machine and prodigy, the new Bulletproof Album 'Dark Times - Desperate Measures' features 12 tracks spanning the genres of Drum n Bass & Dubstep. Featuring artist collaborations with A-List names like Phace(Germany), Gridlok(USA), Mindscape(Hungary) and Psidream(Canada) plus appearances by acclaimed New Zealand d&b artists Teknik & Dose.
'DT-DM' will be released on CDLP, 3 X 12' Vinyl and full digital download release globally on April28 2008. Released independently through Uprising & Cyanide Recordings and Distributed in New Zealand by Universal, and globally by S.T. Holdings Ltd.

Since 2002 Cern [Ollie Macky and Jonny Beck] have been collectively producing drum and bass and downbeat music for the main purpose of having a good time and making use of their creative tendencies. After finishing school both Climate and Omen began work at the then home of underground music in Auckland, Fu Bar. This is where their passion for DJing and production began; having the opportunity to experience the best of what the world had to offer in live DJ performances. After getting recognised for their DJing skills, they soon began to support some of the local and international acts for New Zealand drum and bass pioneers Subtronix and Cyanide Recordings. This is when their attention turned to production, and their skills began to take form. 2006 saw collaborations with Bulletproof, 'Rokhedz' and 'Red Mercury', and pushing the Neurofunk sound by promoting visiting artists such as Mayhem, Noisia and more recently Psidream and D Bridge. 2007 was a productive year for Cern with their “South in Session” series and In Depth monthly, also working on collaborations with New Zealand's finest up and coming producers Dose, Teknik, Menace and Luca. 2008 has been a busy year for Cern, who will be embarking on a European trip in the second half of the year and are currently working on collaborations with some of drum and bass' most respected artists.
Look out for remixes of their work done by Phace[Satellites] and Chook[Tense Passed].
