Biography of Atlantic Connection

Atlantic Connection

city: Wilmington

affiliations: Rinse & Repeat,Basic Operations,Bassdrive,Rewind Radio

By the year 2000 Nathan had created a solid vision and name within the North Carolina scene. Beginning in 1998 Nathan tried many styles of drum and bass before falling in love w/ atmospherics/soul funk/liquid funk/ sound..... Dabling in production Nathan would call fellow producer (late) Lance Presson(4041)for ideas and knowledge on construction of drum and bass.

After giving out the tunes to several very local dj's and recieving positive responce; Nathan began sending his stuff to labels for feedback, it was positive but all agreed the sound wasnt defined enough. He continued and worked hard until an unfortunate accident killed a close friend and that instantly put Nathans life on hold. 2 months later he moved back to Wilmington. Production took hold heavy and Nathan went into studio mode. Moving at an incredible speed of all around production in March or so of 2002 2 tunes were signed for release on Critical Recordings. He began to network and get his tunes to well known producers and label heads. The tunes were all recieved with great responce and several more were considered for release on such labels as L PLates, Sound in Motion, Phuturo ect..

At this time me met Eric Knight and a short studio session together resulted in 3 decent tunes. The two continued at it for months and developed their sound and seudonym : Basic Operations : The thing about these guys is that their sound is like no other. They have the ability to switch up styles and tastes and still retain a solid sound which is not easy in the world of drum and bass where things tend to get pidgenholed easily. Tunes have continued to roll from Nathan and from Basic Operations which great responce from such names as: Mathematics, JUJU ,Influx Datum, High COntrast, New Republic,Dkay, Addiction, Klute and countless others. Several remixes and such are on the way as well, including an exclusive tune for Testflight Recordings later this year. ' We've also got a project w/ Mikrob (Phuturo,Critical) of Sao Palo Brazil two remixes of eachothers tunes, mine for Critical Rec. and a tune we're doing a mix of 'My Love' which is bad bad bad! def watch out for these!' Testflight, Phuturstic Bluez, Phuturo, Gain, Nemcron and several other top labels have all expressed intreset so keep your ears peeled! Nathan has come along way from 1998 and has deffinately shown growth and contribution to the American DnB scene. Watch this man!
