Michael’s passion for music and ability to DJ began long before he was of legal age. While other twelve year olds were out playing, the only place you would find Michael was practicing mixing and listening to music. By the time he was fifteen, Michael was hired to DJ private parties, but it didn’t take long for him to make the leap to the club scene. It only took a few appearances for Michael to earn his name DJ name - Manic, because of the crazy rush of energy he brings every time he is on the turntables.
Manic has a unique style in the way he works the dance floor. To see him perform and hear him spin is a memorable experience as he takes his audience on a musical journey. Playing real smooth, sexy tracks early in his set; Manic creates the vibe and sets the tone on the dance floor. Once the dance floor is moving, Manic kicks it into gear with big funky bass-lines and sexy vocal songs. The crowd can’t stop dancing and singing once the groove sets in. Manic also loves to sneak in big tribal drums with a progressive edge to them - which allow the people on the dance floor to express themselves through the music.
In 1997 Manic took his career to the next level. He began producing and remixing music in his home studio, which he had been creating and improving ever since. Manic joined forces with Michael Black (a.k.a- Blackout) in 1998 and they formed Manic Blackout Productions. Blackout’s knowledge of technology and Manic’s creativity and perceptive ear for music made them an ideal team.
Manic has expanded upon his musical vision - joining forces with Producer/Engineer/Composer Alan Scott Plotkin of Virgo Studios. Together, they have developed a state-of-the-art recording studio with cutting edge equipment and a knowledgeable staff. Manic and Alan are currently producing, engineering and re-mixing for a number of artists and record labels. When it comes to the studio, Manic is relentless - putting in many long days and nights-and loving every minute of it. Creating, crafting and refining his art everyday is his drive and his pulse for his passion.
Manic still remains close to his performance roots by making regular appearances at some of New York’s most prestigious clubs.
