Biography of Danix
Daniel Dumitrescu a.k.a. Danix was born in 1988 in Ploiesti, Romania. From an early age he got fascinated by Electronic music. In the mid 90's he discovered some Electronic music CD's in his uncle's CD collection and started listening to them time and time again. He was simply amazed by these CD's that ranged from Jean-Michel Jarre albums to some Rave, Techno & Trance compilations.
A big step in his musical youth was when his uncle brought home live sets recorded on CD's from the legendary club ''Karma'' (Bucharest). Many things were new to Danix: how the tracks were layered, the compositions of the sets, etc. At that time his best friend, Cristian Dumitrescu (family name coincidence)(Chris Tee), would listen with him to these CD's and discuss about them. After Karma closed (around 2001), Danix & Chris Tee started learning by themselves to mix on software.
In 2002, Danix's uncle and some staff at the ''Diva'' club organised some parties with the DJ's that had been residents at Karma. Raoul Russu, Rosario Internullo and DJ Professor (Xtreme) played at ''Diva'', one DJ a night. It was the first time Danix had seen DJ's playing live on turntables. He was impressed. Meanwhile, Danix's uncle had a small pub in Ploiesti, ''Blu Pub''. It didn't take long for the pub to turn out into a club. Oxygene Club was born. The parties that started at ''Diva'' continued in ''Oxygene''. At the begining, the club was a success. When the club wasn't open, Danix used to practice his DJ-ing techniques on the CDJ's and turntables. He had his first ever gigs there with the resident, DJ Jungla. It is now considered as the first underground club from Ploiesti.
Because underground club music was new for the city of Ploiesti, the club slowly became less frequented. It was sold at the end of 2003, and the new owner renamed it ''Down Town'' club. In 2004 it was closed. In 2006, at his 18th birthday, Danix gets as a present from his uncle a pair of CDJ 1000 MK3, a DJM 800 mixer and other essential DJ electronics. Thinking that some DJ's have sold their cars just to buy 2 turntables and a mixer, he considers himself extremely lucky. Since 2006, he started producing music but he's still working on his producing skills. His aliases include : Danix, Dirty Pusherman, D Substance.
