Biography of Katcha

One of the front personalities of Czech drum´n´bass has been refining her mixing acrobatics for six years. At the very beginning, Liquid A (the matador of Czech clubbing scene) supported Katcha by letting her play some of his morning sets at Roxy. Later, when group around independent club XT3 has formed, Katcha found her first stable territory there and still is one of XT3s resident DJs (together with the producer and DJ Touchwood). Talent and constantly improving technical skills soon gave her the label of a promising newcomer . After playing in prague dnb clubs such as Punto Azul, Wakata, theater bar of Akropolis Palace and Kladno’s 19 invitations from other cities have followed. Katcha by her attractive style constantly nailed her great DJ’s reputation and respect of clubbing audience. She performed on many free open air events, for example Cibulka, CzechTekk and Boskovice but first break through to awarness of wider audience came w the performance on Prague’s concert of Massive Attack. And also first playing with the dnb legend Grooverider.

From that moment, her name regularly turns up on line-ups of prestigious club-parties and also on giant events like Open Air Field, Cosmic Trip, Summer Of Love or Hradhouse. The list of foreign drum´n´bass names that she demonstrated her talent with is really long: beside the already mentioned Grooverider, also with Ed Rush,
Andy C, High Contrast, Aquasky, London Electricity, Teebee, Bad Company, Photek, Doc-Scott, D-Kay, Reality, Usual Suspects, Jumping Jack Frost, E-Z Rollers, Calix, Klute, Alley cat, Flight. But also supported artists of other genres: Asian Dub Foundation, Mad Professor, Massive Attack and others ...

The quality of colorful and diversified sets of DJ Katcha is indisputable, but the big contribution for dnb scene is her cooperation with vocalists. Together with the singer Klára Nemravová and MC Rubin she created the first Czech freestyle project – the legendary Da Babas trio, that got great acclaim not only from club media, but also brought even more attention to Katcha. Da Babas paused for a long time because of MC Rubin moving back to Switzerland. That’s how she discovered nowadays best Czech MC NuC. At the same time continued her cooperation with hiphop DJ Ali and his MC Lin-Dee. Combination of hiphop and broken beats on four gramophones with contribution of two MCs turned into successful formation, which now consists of (apart from Katcha, of course) MC NuC or MC Dr.Kary, vokalists Lin-Dee or Klára Nemravová aka C-lara and Princess T.

From 2001 Katcha has been sponsored by the CARHARTT company.

These days Katcha finally found time for exploration in a studio production, which is maybe the last activity that this progressive personality of Czech scene didn’t try yet. With respect to the fact, that apart from her resident nights in Barumba in Olomouc and Fleda in Brno and openair festival Cosmic Trip /Teplice/, where she invites foreign guests, she is invited to play abroad, we may say, that it is more than just promising domestic event.
