Biography of Doctor Gil

Brazilian native DJ Doctor Gil brings 15 years of dance club experience to the decks. 1992 marks the time when Gil was first exposed to the electronic music scene. Influenced by Italian house, funky house, and funky techno, (the latter two genres being the main influences on his internationally acclaimed style), he began frequenting nightclubs and music stores in his hometown of So Paulo where he was able to interact and learn from several experienced DJs. He bought some DJ gear with a friend, and soon he was spinning at some of the best parties in the So Paulo area. 1994, barely two years in to his career, DJ Doctor Gil began DJing full time as a resident of several major nightclubs including the Campo Grande (MS) branch of the world-famous Limelight. His talent was instantly recognized as he thrilled packed dance floors with his signature cutting and scratching. He was brought to New York, capital of the Limelight Empire, where he became the first Brazilian DJ to hit the decks of the greatest Limelight of all, Limelight NYC. Here his career flourished and he played at many of the best parties and nightclubs in the New York area. From there, it was on to international acclaim playing all corners of the globe: England, Mexico, EUA, Panama, and Colombia. It was in Colombia where he launched his first self-produced track The Best of Cali on a white label. Following that, Gil started on a new South American tour, beginning in Colombia. Here he played major clubs and parties including the Summer Calima Festival, Bogota Crew Festival, Podium Club, LaSala and Pipeline with international superstar DJs. Other notable stops on this tour was Club Hawai in Mexico. Gil then went on to tour other countries in the Ravers Tour. In his homeland of Brazil, DJ Doctor Gil is well known for his residencies at nightclubs and parties such as City of The Rock (Campo Grande), Streo (Curitiba), Caf Curaao (Guaratuba), International Disco Club (Foz do Iguau), Leonora (Rondonpolis), Bali Hai (Santa Catarina), Concorde (Florianpolis), CarWash (Maring/PR), ViBe (Curitiba), as well as other national and internationally famous DJs.
