Biography of DJ Shiva
From her beginnings in classical music, to her political awakening playing in punk bands, to her first belt drive turntables, Indianapolis techno mainstay DJ Shiva has always thrown herself wholeheartedly into the music that drives her. Since her start on the decks in 1995, she has continued to hone her craft for the last decade. Applying years of musical study to the turntables, Shiva has rocked crowds the nation over with her meticulous attention to detail, programming and composition, coupled with smooth mixes, effects, double copy tricks, and quick crossfader play. With tastes spanning the range of electro and minimal funk to grinding machine music, her versatility keeps things fresh, while her skills shut down any notions of 'she's good...for a girl'.
In 1999, she joined Adam Jay and Matt Bandy in starting SUBterror, a diverse collective of DJs and artists with a focus on quality music and social/political consciousness. Their focus of raising social and political issues through music, art, and events continues to evolve through various musical, poetic and online avenues. Her fearless outspokenness and her dedication to feminism have also spurred on several women-centered projects, including the ever-evolving 'The Goddess Complex' (ongoing collective project) and the more recent SisterSpin discussion forums for women djs, producers, and electronic music geeks. Always dedicated to music, but never letting her convictions fall by the wayside, Shiva maintains that her music is simply an extension of her personal politics. 'Music without the guts to challenge the status quo holds no interest for me.'
During a short stint in Philadelphia in 2002, Shiva helped the PhillyTechno crew to push techno back into the forefront of Philly's exciting music scene. From the Strobe events in the summer/fall of 2002, to her continued alliance with Internal Error Records, the Philly/Indy connection has stayed strong. Sharing the decks throughout the years with techno's finest, as well as her steadfast dedication to techno has garnered her respect throughout the US techno community. Her skills continue to speak for themselves as she has stepped into producing her own tunes.
Focusing on production for the last three years, she has already proved her mettle there as well. With an original tune for LA-based netlabel Heavy Industries and net exclusive remixes of Kage and Greg Gow for Beretta Music, as well as vinyl releases on Internal Error (a split with Adam Jay and a remix of Woody McBride) in record stores worldwide (IER03 recently charted by Ben Long of the Space DJz), rest assured you will soon hear her signature aggressive style on soundsystems everywhere.
Stay tuned for remixes of Adam Jay, Locutus and Steve Stoll on US labels in 2006, plus keep an ear out for her first European release remixing Manuel Fuentes on Germany's Giant and Dwarf. The last ten years have been only the beginning for Shiva, and the future just keeps looking brighter. You think you know...but you have no idea.

Biography of Adam Jay
Residing in a city known more for motor sports than music, Adam Jay has proven himself to be a prominent figure in the world of techno through musical output alone. Classically trained since childhood, his influences span styles of music from around the world. His first output was shared between jazz and funk as an aspiring clarinetist and bassist. His passion for having complete control of both the rhythm section and the lead section lead Adam away from traditional bands and ensembles and towards electronic music production.
DJing at the age of 16 in 1997, Adam’s skills as a performer were quickly developed. Performing at the historic East Town Theatre (in its heyday hosting the likes of Hendrix, Joplin, and James Brown) in Detroit on his 18th birthday marked the true beginning of an illustrious career as a DJ. Live Pa’s naturally followed with the request of a live performance alongside Marco Carola and Funk D’Void in 2001.
In the last 2 years Adam has taken the global techno scene by the throat with continuous output on the most respected labels worldwide. His releases on the renowned Primate and Primevil labels are caned on a regular basis by such techno heavyweights as Carl Cox and Adam Beyer. Known amongst the global touring circuit as one of the essential live pa acts to hear, his touring schedule had him everywhere from Australia to Brazil to Germany, Belgium, and Austria in 2003. 2004 will see further extensive live and dj touring, as well as 12' EP's on Ben Sims' signature label Theory Recordings, Pornographic Recordings, Slobodan's new Goathead label, and another full length 2x12'/CD on Adam's own Chromagnon Recordings.
