Biography of Joe G.
Hometown:
Hailing from the Motor City
Genre/Influences:
acid, soul, funky, tech-, 2-step and deep house with some techno and hip-hop flavor: and don't be surprised if you here some dusty funk too
Background:
His first taste of house music was in 1995, attending one of the many 'Poor Boy' parties being thrown at the time. He was instantly hooked on this wonderful new drug and made every attempt to attend every party he possibly could. Within a few short years of being introduced to house music he devoted himself entirely to its teachings. Taking what he learned from watching and hearing artists like Terrance Parker, Gene Farris, Terry Mullan, DJ Godfather, Dj Funk, Mark Farina and Z-Trip. He bought all the necessary equipment, made essential connections, dug up all the best records and spun his heart out behind the decks. Every session was another step toward formulating the perfect blend. His natural sense of rhythm has enabled him with a gift for perfectly blending sounds and creating fresh, innovative sets. His amazing connection with house helped him create the acronym 'd.u.b.life', which is his way of expressing to the masses what house music is all about. His passion for this music turned into a reason for being. Dance.Understand.Believe.This music is LIFE.
He has thrown down at numerous prestigious venues such as Motor Lounge, St. Andrews Hall, Clutch Cargo, Tonic Nightclub, Better Days, Envy, BPM in Toledo, The Necto, Lager House, Rush Hour & various underground and loft parties and after-hours clubs. These clubs and parties have given him the chance to work the decks alongside names like Grand Master Flash, Glenn Underground, Terrance Parker, Terry Mullan, Adam X, Fankie Bones and many others. Some promotion companies he has played under are Safe-2-Dance (as DJ Hobbes), Hazard-s (as Joe G.) & Deep Heat Detroit.
