Biography of Johnny Fiasco

Like German engineers craft fine automobiles, Chicago’s DJ’s pride themselves in their house music.

Ripping up dance floors since the early 90’s golden era of Derrick Carter and Mark Farina, Johnny Fiasco’s now legendary Thursday nights at Shelter are held in the archives of house music history.

Johnny's records are widely regarded as being some of the tightest tracks around. There's a depth, quality and complexity in his productions that make his house stand tall above the rest -- odds are that there's a Fiasco 12-inch sitting in every house aficionado's crate.

Handling remix duties for Soulstice’s “Lovely” and releasing a international hit 12” on Om entitled “Things That go Bump in the Night”, as Darth Vader would say, the force is strong with this one.

Comment: This is a great set, a must for any Johnny Fiasco fans out there. It has smooth mixing and stellar programming and I love the way he displays his wide array of tracks. There's good energy in this set and it's definitely one that you can play for those who aren't really into House because it will get them moving anyway.

Comment: Johhny really represents his roots on this one. It's two hours of straight-up Chicago house. The track selection isn't flashy, but it's solid all the way through. He gives you some variety, with elements of funk, jazz and hip-hop, but it all has a very consistent flow. He even throws in the old Cajmere hit "Brighter Days" towards the end, in case you forgot where he was from.

This guy is a true technician, and the mixing is as smooth as can be. His tight control over the levels is impressive, and he's constantly tweaking to add depth and color to the mix. This one is recommended for all Househeads.
