Biography of Swayzak

Swayzak - apparently in Polish this means 'union,' or so someone told us! Swayzak was born in 1996 in London, UK. James Taylor and David Brown, friends and former work colleagues, have made music together since 1993. Brown was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966 and Taylor was born in London in 1967. They started their own label out of lack of interest from other labels. This is a true union of British culture, Swayzak Recordings.

The first release was in 1997 titled Bueno / Fukumachi, which was well received and the follow up, Speedboat / Low Res Skyline was deemed a classic by many trainspotters. Then they went on to record 'Snowboarding in Argentina,' a long playing deep and minimal house must have. Since then, Swayzak have never looked back and enjoy making music still as an alternative to working.

Having released 5 artist albums, 2 DJ compilations and several other projects (they're still waiting to be paid for some of them!), Swayzak never shy away from making music, but often take a laid back approach hence their new album 'Route de la Slack,' a double CD of remixes and rarities. It was released 20 March 2006.

Taylor runs the 240 volts label and records his own material under the name 'Darkfarmer' and 'James Taylor.' Brown plays most weekends with percussionist Francesco Brini as 'Swayzak' and DJ Roger 23 as 'Swayzak Soundsystem.' Brown also runs the 'Voltmusik' label and is planning a new venture with Roger 23.

Comment: This has a brilliant selection of tracks by this kick ass duo, the first half is pretty mellow and it picks up around 16:00 minutes or so. The sounds and selections are pretty indicative of the Back to the Basics series. I would recommend this set for any person, not only just for fans of Swayzak. Check it!

Comment: may be i was expecting something with more rythm, well in fact, mostly of the set did not fill me, i was looking something more, i guess it was the swayzak's typical style, if you want to chill out, may be wishing to sleep i would recommend this set, but i never in other context..
