Biography of Andre Solaris
FUEL's founder, during the last 18 years behind the decks Andre Solaris has perfected his art of delivering quality music while sharing his party attitude with the crowd. Being exposed to various event types in the first half of his career and diving deep into the underground in the second sculpted a DJ with a great understanding of nightclub dynamics and crowd-pleasing tactics. Today, a regular DJ on the Chicago scene, host and resident of a number of radio mix-shows, event organizer, music producer and re-mixer, and relentless pursuer of the perfect party, Andre continues his journey fueled by his passion.
Four years after migrating from his native Poland, he began his DJ career in eighty-six just as the house music movement was gaining momentum. You know, the days of break-dancing and bad 80's fashion styles. The scene was in its infancy, the world listened to the likes of Hall & Oates, Pat Benatar, and Culture Club and the early house producers were tweaking the knobs in their first studios. As a devoted teenage listener of the Chicago's famous 'Hot Mix 5' show on WBMX and WGCI radio stations he was spending his weekend nights recording the mixes. Intrigued by House he went on to organize his first dance party in 1986 at which he played on two belt-driven turntables and cassette deck. Shortly after that he was organizing his first nights at local bars and clubs. Serving a mix of early European dance hits, House, New Beat, Alternative, and what was then known as High Energy he kept the parties in check. During the following years Andre played hundreds of events, mostly as the resident of a particular night and behind the turntables for six to eight hours at a time. These were the years when headlining, guest DJs were not yet heard of and DJ fees could not buy you a car. His early musical influences ranged from Alternative, New Beat, Hi-Energy, and New Wave to House and early Techno. Groups like Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Nitzer Ebb. Later, The Orb, Underworld, Orbital, Jam & Spoon, & Leftfield.
In the nineties, Andre continued playing at numerous Chicago events and clubnights while successfully landing guest DJ spots on local FM and AM radio stations including WLUW 88.7 FM and Q101 FM's 'Sonic Boom'. In ninety-eight he has established a promotions group under the name 'Fuel' and for the last five years he has been organizing and producing numerous, successful events around the city inviting guest DJs to play alongside him. The most visible became 'Departures' with 23 installments to date at various Chicago venues. The key elements of all productions have been superb sound, lighting, and visuals and an uncompromising quality of music. Andre Solaris is also in demand by other promoters in the Chicago club circuit such as Pure, KGBeats, and Spundae. He has been handed the task of opening the nights for the likes of Danny Howells, Jody Wisternoff, Meat Katie, Parks & Wilson, Sander Kleinenberg, Max Graham, John Debo, Steve Lawler, and others.
Between March 2001 and December 2002, until the station's change of format, Andre has been the resident DJ and producer of his own mix-show 'Clubland Underground' on ENERGY 92.7&5 FM in Chicago. The weekly four hours have been solely dedicated to global progressive dance music featuring prog, tech, and tribal house, breaks, and techno. Between October 2002 and May of 2004 he hosted a 2 hour show called 'Fuel' every Saturday night on XM Satellite Radio / Channel 82 - The System, a U.S. nationwide radio network. As of May 2004, the show switches to Channel 80 'The Move' where Andre finds himself among a group of like-minded and very talented DJs. Moreover. the new channel is all about House and other forms of underground dance music. In March of 2003 Andre Solaris re-enters Chicago's airwaves as he is recruited as the new Mixmaster of the 'B96 Street Mix'. Solaris has provided the show with a bit of a a change in programming and was in charge of his own segment called 'The Sound of the Global Underground'. After 7 weeks on the air, Andre Solaris was ranked #1 among the mix-show DJs on the station's web based polling system and shortly after that his modest talents have been locked on by another mix-show's host.
In May of 2003, Joey Swanson, the host of the city's most respected mix-show, 'Sonic Boom', has invited Andre to become a resident . The station, Q101 FM, plays Alternative Rock during the week. The show has been running for close to five years showcasing the city's top underground dj's with music styles ranging from House, Techno, and Drum 'n Bass to Prog, Tribal, and Breaks. The family of very talented and well known artists includes : Lego, Justin Long, Nosmo, Psycho Bitch, Terri Bristol, Danny The Wildchild, Green Velvet, D:Fuse, Little Louie Vega, and DJ Rap. The shows airs every Friday and Saturday 10pm-2am CST with Andre's set at 12:30am on Saturdays. In August of '03 Andre begins his new radio residency in his native Poland. Radio ABC 98.4 FM - Szczecin will be hosting a weekly Saturday night show (8pm-9pm) called 'Future Sound of Chicago' with Andre's choice cuts in the mix.
Andre records over two hundred one-hour mix sets annually for this and other syndicated shows. As a member of the prestigious Balance Promote Record Pool, with a membership of 40 top US jocks such as Danny Tenaglia and Sandra Collins, he introduces the best forthcoming tracks from around the world. He has been featured in number of publications, TV programs, and websites.
Releasing 18 mix cds to date and working on music and remix production takes care of Andre’s remaining spare time. The recently finished remix of 'Alabama Black Snake' by 8miles high vs. Kgbeats is headed to 2003 Winter Music Conference for its official release. Other remixes and productions include - 'Kwasna Przygoda' (Andre Solaris' Escaped Mix) by a Polish rock group O.N.A. and an original track named 'Situated' produced with Hope Recordings' Nosmo of Grayarea, also a dj’ing partner. In March of 2004 an unoficial remix from Andre Solaris and Rich D went on its way to the Winter Music Conference. A great remake of BERLIN's 1982 hit single Sex (I'm a...). 'Andre Solaris & Rich D's Confessions of A Dirty Mind Mix' is geared towards peak time sets on any up-for-it dance floor.
In his live sets, while having a driving, progressive feel he often takes his listeners into a more atmospheric territory. Infusing the sets with furious tech and tribal house he calmly takes a sip of his favorite adult beverage while overlooking the dance floor. Constantly reading the crowd, he tailors his mix in real-time while tweaking the controls of his outboard effects units. At times it's difficult to realize who's having more fun, the DJ or the crowd. Andre certainly let's his people know that he's there with one purpose - to make them dance.

Biography of Darin Epsilon
The story of how Darin discovered his passion for playing music in front of a crowd begins as early as age seven.
Armed with only two portable CD players and an amp, his first gigs were rough and crude mixes of early Hip House and classic 90's dance hits at summer camp parties. Year after year, like a mad addiction, he would spend all his available free time searching for the best possible records he could lay his hands on, only to return the next summer to introduce friends to his newest and latest craze.
Now in his early twenties, that attitude has hardly changed. During a typical set, Darin enjoys playing the freshest cuts in Progressive House, Tribal, Breaks, Techno, Tech-House, and Trance. Presently, Darin hosts Radioactivity (info) on WPGU 107.1 FM. Based in central-east Illinois, the show has grown to become one of the most successful radio shows for Electronic dance in the midwest, featuring weekly ticket giveaways and exclusive interviews with such internationally renowned DJs and producers as Sasha, Karl Hyde of Underworld, Uberzone, and Rennie Pilgrem. The radio allows Darin to express his true love for all genres of Electronic music. His tastemaking
abilities have also earned him a place in the US CD Pool (info).
Darin continues to work hard and push himself towards becoming a world-class DJ and producer. By the end of 2004 he will have played locations all over the central US. He is also in the process of wrapping up a number of original productions. With his strong background in music and high ambitions for success, he hopes to someday leave his mark on the world.
Growing up, Darin was always a fan of Naveen G's Culture Shock program on WNUR 89.3 FM in Chicago. Each week the show would introduce its audience to the newest and most far-reaching sounds of the moment. On one articularly quiet evening in December, Naveen showcased his favorite ten Trance records of 1999. From the moment Bedrock's Heaven Scent lit the airwaves, Darin's immediate reaction was to grab a blank cassette and record the entire program. Awestruck by other such timeless classics as Veracocha's Carte Blanche, Sasha's Xpander, Nemo's Spacemaker, and Breeder's Twilo Thunder, Darin spent the next several weeks listening to the tape from beginning to end, on one occasion even looping the tape for four hours straight. From that day forth, he understood the power and spiritual meaning of sharing music with others.
The pseudonym Darin Epsilon is a combination of the word 'daring' and the greek symbol representing the pet name for Ecstacy. The idea behind this comes from a Keoki quote in the rave documentary Better Living through Circuitry. In it, the notorious DJ dares his audience to listen to dance music while under the influence, with the intent of proving there is no greater sensation that exists than in collectively experiencing great music together.
