Biography of CFX
CFX is the work of Detroit based DJ/Producer, Chad Parraghi. Fusing hard techno with IDM stylings, Parraghi¹s blends of heavy bass, irregular time signatures and assaulting synth lines, have been a fixture on North American dance floors since the mid-nineteen nineties. Now signed to David Sumner’s Infrastructure New York label and along with his own Project(313), Parraghi is currently in studio, recording new releases for the New York and Detroit based labels.
Parraghi is also one half of ‘FrictionDetroit’ a hard techno productions / promotions crew operated with the assistance of his long time friend Tom Newman. As Friction Detroit, Parraghi and Newman have hosted some of the Detroit area’s most celebrated Techno events including 2004’s Substance, one of the DEMF’s most successful afterparties, the legendary Friction Weekly series, and the Deform micro-tour series. Collectively these events hosted such highly touted performers as: Chris Leibing, Ben Sims, Dan Bell, Marco Bailey, ESP Woody McBride, Regis, Mark Verbos, Mark Broom and Mhonolink to name a few.
Recently, as both FrictionDetroit and CFX, Parraghi has also fostered collaborative efforts with Detroit Underground, and through this pairing has been helping to facilitate a new audiovisual dialectic vis a vis electronic music.
