Biography of Kingsley Flowz
Kingsley Ndam is truly a global child. He grew up in Vienna, Austria Parents from Cameroon and now resides in New York City. These influences have all played a major factor in both his sound and style. Kingsley started to DJ back as a teenager in Europe before coming to the US for college. After college, he moved to Philadelphia and slowly but steadily built a solid following through his intricate sets and unique sounds. Kingsley’s goal is to take people on a journey with each set. Letting them feel like they were part of the experience. Naturally the next step was to get involved in the production side of things. Kingsley started distributing his music to a bunch of the DJ’s in the Philadelphia, Baltimore and D.C. scene. After doing the white label thing for a few years, Kingsley decided to move to New York City in 2002 in order to focus on establishing a label and creating a foundation. Kingsley continued to DJ around the country and in late 2003 decided to form the label DSEV. 15 releases later and a bunch of licensed tracks (most recently 3 on the new Diz CD from House With love on Loveslap) Kingsley continues to push his brand and taste of houe to the masses. Kingsley used the Flowz name to bring out a good number of his more up tempo releases on this label as well as for remixes.
The sound of Flowz came about during Kingsley’s various pilgrimages to the California house scene. It was a suitable acronym to use for a style that is both groove rich and up tempo at the same time. Flowz also gave Kingsley the opportunity to journey into other realms of house allowing him to work on a different sound. In future releases though, Kingsley will be combining the names to simplify matters.
Method Brothers consists of Kingsley Ndam and Carlson Ndam. Kingsley Ndam is of course Kingsley and Carlson Ndam is his brother. Together they explore the deeper end of things as well as well as focusing on an After hours sound.
In 2006 Kingsley took a year off to launch Nightlyfe Magazine (also on myspace), in 2007 the Magazine is yet undergoing another transformation into the first Cable TV channel on Night life 24/7 and in HD. The magazine will continue to serve as a vital component albeit in more of a complementary fashion to the TV channel. Now with some of the major leg work behind, Kingsley is now ready to adequately split his time between the enterprise and his label. With 5 EP’s scheduled to be released in 2007, the establishment of residencies in Philadelphia and New York, and a small summer tour, artistically, Kingsley and DSEV Music are excited to yet again make a presence. Holding down the underground house scene in NYC!
