Biography of Soulinus
His first contact to vinyl was through his brother, who showed him the stuff of Keb Darge and Dean Rudland, Adrian Gibson. Minnie Riperton, Jimmy Smith, Gil Scott Heron, Spanky Wilson, Aretha of course, Bernard Purdie Billy Cobham, May Roach, Buddy Rich (the guy we are talking about played drums for more than ten years..) were and are his inspiration number one. He got his first residency at the TapTab in 2002 beside his brother George who is and was in every second the most important person in the Beats on Tap conglomerate. They acted as the Munzbrothers, spinning Dancefloor Jazz, Deep Funk and Soul. Once heard to a 'New Testament of Funk' he fell in love with the so called 'Funkbreaks'.... Once decided to be the originator of the Beats on Tap Inc. & Evenings, he brought the whole 'Funky-WahWah-Breaks-Electronica' thing into the TapTab Schaffhausen, where he met one day a guy scratching like the would be no tomorrow, cutting over raw and hard hittin`drum patterns, who called himself 'Pun'.... The Beats on Tap Inc. became a Dj/Promoter/Booking collective who is responsible for the regular event 'Beats On Tap' at the TAP TAB Club in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. From 2003 till 2006 artists like Henry Storch (unique rec.), Eddie Piller (Acid Jazz), Boca 45 (Grand Central), Electric Mojo (Mojo HH), Malente (moonboutique, unique), Deutsche & Albaner , Kraak & Smaak (jalapeno), Dubex Inc. DJ Team (pulver), Xaver Fischer Trio (unique), Bandura (unique), Smash (blue note), Will White (wall of sound), Goldfinger Brothers, Phoneheads (infracom, buddy rec), Rafik (lordzoffitness), Dr. Ben (turntablejazz), Kabuki (precision)........ were guests at 'Beats on tap'. As I said above, these guys are also vinyladdicted djs: Soulinus & Pun played in various venues in Switzerland alongside Djs like Kraak&Smaak (Atlantis Basel), Quantic (Das Schiff Basel), Boca 45 (Voltahalle Basel), Marc Hype (TapTab, Schaffhausen)...
As they started Dj-ing they played as a Dj-Team finding more and more their own styles. Having found their own identity they are covering a large space of sound, combining Deep Funk, HipHop, B-Boy Breaks, House and Electronica allways with the focus on hard hittin`drums and uncompromising breaks.
The Beats on Tap doesn`t exist no more as regular event, cause Linus moved over to dusseldorf, working for UNIQUE Records & SSC-Concerts ...
