Biography of Yasume
Yasume was formed in late 2001 by John Twells (aka Xela) and Gabriel Morley (aka Logreybeam).
After successfully completing a remix for Metamatics, which is to be released on Hydrogen Dukebox this November/December they decided to carry on collaborating and have finished an ep, the interestingly titled 'where we're from, the birds sing a pretty song'. The title comes from a dream sequence in David Lynch's seminal tv series 'Twin Peaks' and that really sets the scene for the style that defines the music of Yasume.
Somewhere between the choppy digital crunch of Miami's Schematic label and the hazy dreamlike melodic quality of Angelo Badallamenti falls Yasume, a sound which is hard to place and harder to forget.
22 year old John Twells (aka Xela) has slowly but surely developed a style mixing beautiful melodic electronicmusic with choppy hiphop and abstract downtempo soundscapes.
Logreybeam, or Gabriel Morley to his mum, has been making music for as long as he can remember, being proficient on the piano, saxophone and any other instrument which gets thrust in his general direction. After much deliberation on the state of music, he fell into the misfortune of making electronic music, creating abstract soundscapes and shuddering rhythmic loops.
