Biography of McBrowntrout
This is where I'm supposed ramble on about myself in third-person, isn't it?
Well, basically I have always been into electronic music - starting back in the early 90's when me and my mates would trip out on the weekends. Those mind-bending journeys would inevitably end up with a few of us laying about on couches, eyes closed, listening to the likes of Mouse on Mars, Luke Vibert, and other various electronica while we got lost in the swirling lights and colours show taking place on the backs of our eyelids, and solved (repeatedly) the meaning of life.
Since those early days, many things have changed.
The venues: from friends' lounges, to the warehouse raves of Toronto, to the cavernous, dank clubs of Edinburgh, to the beaches of Thailand, to the small pubs and clubs of Melbourne, and far too many house parties to remember in between.
The equipment: from belt-driven, pitchless turntables, to CDs, to .mp3 and the always expanding realm of digital media.
The music: from the great Rolland tb303 acid house sounds, to whistle-blowing, horn blasting rave tunes, to melodic up-lifting trance, to bass heavy, synth-stabbing underground techno, to now too many styles to get your head around.
Despite all the changes, one thing has remained the same: that feeling that washes over you - when you're head down, eyes closed - that all of a sudden says, 'Welcome back, dude. Now, where shall we go tonight?' You know the one. It's why we keep on dancing.
So, for all of you who go at it head down, eyes closed - these mixes are for you.
