Biography of DJ Matt e Starr

DJ Matt e Starr has been bringing his brand of House music to enthusiastic audiences for the past five years, building a solid fan base that attends his shows, shares his mixes, and fills his dancefloors all night long.

As a DJ, Matt e has kept them dancing all over Portland, Oregon -- in nightclubs, ballrooms, basements, lofts, warehouses, hotel suites, and in the great outdoors. Having made his public debut at Burning Man 2001, Matt e travels far and wide with his vinyl, having many opportunities to represent Portland’s House community while entertaining diverse audiences in Oregon, California, Washington, Nevada, Minnesota, and Canada.

As a promoter, Matt e has been able to bring artists to Portland that inspired the music that he loves to play. Stacy Kidd, Brett Johnson, Justin Martin, Miss Mee, Mike Grant, Rick Preston, Traxx, Demarkus Lewis, Jason Hodges, Boo Williams, Jay West, Style of Eye, Luke McKeehan, Marcus Jerard, DJ Homewrecker, Jeromy Nail, Recess, Spoon, Nolan Kane, Jazzy Eyewear, DJ Mes, Jon Lemmon, Scud Bloom, Mark Grant, Mike Huckaby, Jay Tripwire, Sammy D, Justin Martin, DJ Rhythm, Juan Atkins, Joshua, Rob G, Slater Hogan, Mike Tello, Q-Burns Abstract Message, Bobby Pharelle, Red Pony, Jacob London, and Troydon have all played shows in Portland thanks to Matt e Starr and his partners at Portland Housing Authority.

Matt e has held long-term residencies at The Ararat, The Greek, Ohm, Red Sea, Hybrid, and Tangent. He started a new Saturday all-nighter (11pm-10am) at the Ararat Restaurant on April 1st, 2006 called After Dark which featured the best local and visiting House music DJs. As of May 3rd, 2008, After Dark will run Saturdays from 2:30am - 7:30 am at 2410 N Mississippi @ Interstate in Portland.
