Biography of Timo Rotonen

Timo Rotonen, born in Finland in the early 70's. Took up guitar at the tender age of 12. Got into the music business in the early 90's with his indie record label Tangerine Records. Took up dj'ing in the mid 90's and got heavily into electronic music. Was bitten by the house bug soon after, inspired by the sound of Chris Gray, Larry Heard, Calum Walker and Chris Brann.

This all led to the birth of the Deeprhythms.com in 2001. Timo explains, “One night I just looked at the piles of records stacked in the corners of my apartment. I remember saying to myself: how come you never hear this sound in clubs anymore? There has to be an audience for this music! You know, the small labels that pump out the real, innovative deep house sound. The people behind these records who are giving their all just for the music. I decided to do my best to promote this sound.'

Deeprhythms.com's sole idea is promoting the good name of smaller underground house producers and their creations. During the last years, the site has gathered a huge following. Always providing its listeners with the cutting edge deep sound, it has become the focal point on the internet for people looking for ethereal, deep and dubby house. The site moves around 1 terrabyte (!) of dowloads a month.

As a producer, Timo is currently working on tracks for Night-Drive-Music and a number of remixes. He can also be spotted dj'ing in 2005 in Istanbul, Paris, Rouen and of course in his hometown, Helsinki.
