Biography of DJ Rydel

Born and raised in Amsterdam Rydel started developing an interrest in Electronic Dance Music in the early 90's. Untill 1996 his main focus was Hardcore, but by the beginning of 1996 his musical taste shifted to the more easier styles UK-Hardhouse, Trance and House. This change in music gave him the opportunity to play for a much broader audience and soon the bookings started coming in. By 1998 he became resident at Starlight, and soon other clubs in and around Amsterdam followed: Trance Buddha, TIME and the legendary afterparty-club ZOO.

In the year 2000 he launched his own clubnights named Xplizit with the emphasis on Hardhouse and Trance. After the Dutch scene saw the rise of HardStyle the Xplizit-parties quickly became Hardstyle-orientated and as Rydel saw too much fammiliarities with the early Hardcorescene he slowly distanced himself from the events. By then his girlfriends' love for Techno already sparked an interrest for it and after joining her to various Techno-events, and listening to 3deck masters like Umek and Ben Sims he quickly becomes enthousiastic about Techno and it's driving rythms and banging beats. Rydel starts playing on 3 turntables and lands several bookings and residencies in Slovenia aswell as in the rest of Europe.

Back in Holland Rydel teams up with his fellow-DJ and friend: Ronner. After playing several parties together as a team, they decide to expand their borders and practise playing their sets on a 5deck/2mixer set-up, with both playing at the same time. At the first party they performed on with this set-up, both crowd and organizers are pleased with the result and they are asked back to the same location various times. As the year progresses they find their agenda�s filling up with various gigs, both together as separate.

Moving to Slovenia at the end of 2003 gave him the opportunity to play all over the country and focus on production aswell. After teaming up with HardWired for some studio sessions the 'HyperGen ProjeX.' are created with the first 3 tracks released in November 2004. At present Rydel still lives in Ljubljana (Capital of Slovenia) and is working on various Techno-projects with HardWired, playing versus-sets with Bloody J and returning to the Housescene aswell under the pseudonime Da Funkstaz with friend and fellow houseDJ Marino.

Rydel is known to be a crowd-pleaser and his driving and flowing sets with welltimed breakdowns and build-ups got him bookings all around Slovenia and the Netherlands, in Croatia, Austria, Belgium, Norway and to perform alongside various DJ's like Ti�sto, Redhead, DarkRaver, Ed Real, Filterheadz, Dylan Drazen, BuzzFuzz, Jay Denham, Dana, Viper XXL, Pavo, Andreas Kremer and Paul Langley to name a few.
