Biography of Freaky Flow
Freaky Flow, originally from Philadelphia, PA, moved with his family to Toronto before reaching four years of age. He first took a serious interest in music at the age of eleven, mesmerized by soul jazz, garage house, and hiphop. Four years later, he purchased his first set of turntables and started spinning hiphop with his skilled partner, D-Wreck. Through this genre, Freaky learned the basics – scratching, cutting, and mixing – in just that prioritized order.
Jungle, drumandbass, and the underground music culture soon captured his attention; Flow, in turn, transferred his knowledge of hiphop into this new, captivating music. He found that scratching and cutting had unique properties in accompaniment with jungle. Party-going patrons worldwide quickly caught on to this sound. Consequently, Freaky Flow today plays on a regular basis at major events throughout Canada, the US, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Austria, England, and most recently, Slovenia, making him the most booked drumandbass DJ in Canada. Notably, for years, all of Flow’s sets featured lyrical-mastermind, MC Flipside, on the microphone, but with Flipside’s mid-2004 decision to quit touring with Flow and focus on his own stage show and studio work, Flow now finds himself rocking crowds again all on his own, just like back in the day.
The transition from DJ to producer was only logical; Freaky wanted to be throwing down his own dubplates. With his then-partner in crime, MC Flipside, Freaky Flow oversaw the operation of Placebo Recordings (distributed by Stickman Records) between 1996 and 1999. The label led Flow to work with many acclaimed artists, including The Soul Grabber (Aquarius/Stickman), The Rascalz (ViK/BMG), and others. With his extremely busy schedule, however, Flow soon found it impossible to go to school full time, manage the Special Projects department at Stickman Records, DJ across the world, and direct and produce for a record label. Thus, to the dismay of many, Placebo Recordings’ release schedule and Freaky Flow’s studio production both came to an abrupt halt at the end of ‘99.
Only now, after completing a film degree at the University of Toronto, and retiring from his position at Stickman (both in 2001), has Freaky Flow been able to return to the studio. And his ideas are already starting to explode back onto vinyl. Within the last two years, he has already done remix work for 311 (Volcano/Zomba/BMG), Choclair (Virgin/EMI), Pressure Rise (Aspect), Type One (GFS/Sound Gizmo), and others. New original tracks have been completed, as well, and still others are in the works.
Flow is no stranger to the mix CD, either. The “Obscene Underground – Volume 1” compilation (on Stickman Records) has thus far sold nearly 20,000 units in Canada alone. Freaky Flow’s second CD, aptly entitled “World Domination” (on Moonshine Music), was released in May 2001, and surpassed his first disc in sales, hurdling over the 20,000 unit mark, making Freaky Flow the highest CD-selling drumandbass DJ of all time in Canada. A third CD – the first ever live CD that Flow has recorded – entitled “Keep It Live” (released 2002), features MC Flipside on the microphone, while his fourth mix CD, 'The Envy' (Topaz Records, 2003) continues to sell well. A fifth mix CD, “Flashback” is currently in the works. Fans can also get their fix by visiting the newly refurbished www.djfreakyflow.com, which features charts, games, and everything you ever wanted to know about The Flow.
Yet even with all of these endeavours keeping him so busy, Flow has not lost sight of why he began to DJ in the first place. He simply possesses new tools to bring his art to more people. Indeed, the music is still his top priority. For Freaky Flow is still known as one of the most versatile and technically skilled producer/DJ's in North America, and still labeled ‘Toronto's Jungle Scratchmaster’ by promoters, producers, and partygoers alike. Swarms of partiers may consistently be found huddled around the DJ booth when Flow is on the decks, watching his every move.

Biography of MC Flipside aka Mic Perri
MIC Perri is the new name on everyone's lips. The man behind this alias however, has been an internationally acclaimed MC for over a decade.
Known to thousands of people around the world as MC Flipside, this microphone chameleon has appeared on many international chart toppers, performed in hundreds of cities around the world and lent his signature vocal delivery to a multitude of genres. It all started with one microphone, one dream and one unbelievably talented MC. A decade of dazzling accomplishments later, the man known for his relentless pursuit of the highest standards in music is taking his already established fame to the next level. This is a story of MC Flipside, the internationally acclaimed microphone commander who single-handedly redefined electronic music in Canada and now, reinventing himself as MIC Perri, prepares to lead the one-man army for world domination.
There are three main ingredients necessary to achieve success in the music business: awe-inspiring talent, a relentless work ethic and an unwavering determination to crush all obstacles that stand in the way of one's goals. From the very beginning, it was quite obvious that Flipside was prepared to do whatever it takes to amaze people with his microphone skills. It didn't take very long for industry players to take note of this emerging talent: Flipside received an offer to produce, direct and host his own radio show on Energy FM, Canada 's leading dance music station. The offer of this kind was unprecedented in a major radio market like Toronto: young talent must pay their dues for years before getting close to the radio station microphone. It was Flipside's original and charismatic delivery and on-air presence that justified the offer and soon established Energy FM and its young host as the authoritative source for ground breaking electronic music in Canada .
The notoriety gained from Flipside's number one ranked radio show translated into bigger and better opportunities. Promoters, booking agents and concert organizers came banging on Flip's door, realizing that his presence impacted the audiences in a profound way: 'Anytime he stepped on stage...there was an instant connection with the crowd. He was able to get into their head and then use that power to whip these kids into a frenzy. And then came the freestyles that seemed to go on and on...and you know all of the rhymes came from the top of his head because he would reference the venue, the acts, the people in the audience...I think people realized that there was something very special emerging right here...on our home soil.'' - That Guy - Promoter.
The highlight of his early days as an MC was at I-Dance, Canada 's major electronic festival taking place in Toronto's Nathan Philip Square. Thousands of people witnessed the unforgettable stage presence of MC Flipside and his status as the top Canadian MC was written in stone. Flipside took his leadership position on Canada 's electronic stage with great responsibility and continued to create opportunities for other local acts through his radio show and evangelize the Canadian scene through every possible medium available. While most radio hosts like to hide behind the microphone, Flipside's charismatic personality and his magnetic image created an insatiable demand among his followers to see him live. Television came calling. One of North America's most innovative television stations, CityTV, known for being in the forefront of the popular culture, frequently invited Flipside to perform on Electric Circus, Canada's only live dance music show.
Flipside's momentum began to gain unstoppable speed. Now that Flip had radio and television watching his every move, it was time to make some noise in the studio. Many were taken by surprise when MC Flipside momentarily put his microphone down and showed his incredible versatility by jumping on two turntables and banging out three mixed compilations distributed by Warner/Universal. The compilations were based on his hugely successful radio show and each release boasted never before seen sales figures in Canadian electronic scene. It became evident that the Canadian borders could no longer contain Flipside’s potential. What followed was an unpredicted international success of such magnitude that no other Canadian MC has ever been able to come close.
MC Flipside has toured the world several times, repeatedly igniting countries like: Canada, U.S., Mexico, Puerto Rico, Japan, Slovenia, Austria, Holland, Hong Kong, Germany, Italy, and most recently England. As his international presence grew, so did the interest of some major international superstars. Flipside was invited to headline alongside Black Eyed Peas, Run DMC, Wu Tang Clan, De La Soul, KRS 1, Sir Mix A Lot, Dee Lite, D12, and Mos Def. He was the only Canadian MC ever to be featured on the hugely popular Moonshine Records imprint. His music has been licensed by Sony BMG Australia, by DJ Jean for MTV Ibiza, and by superstar DJ/Producer Antoine Clamaran. Flip has also collaborated with award winning producers like Juno Winner Hatiras, Grammy Nominee Roger Sanchez, Juno Winner Simone Denny, Juno Nominee M1, Paranoid Jack, Dave Armstrong, James Dolman, Double C, Robby Riggs, Sainte Pete, Victor Veros and countless others. MC Flipside appeared on the underground smash hit 'Vegas' produced by the renowned electronic producer D Fuse. The track was featured on NBC's hit show 'Vegas' and MTV's Road Rules. 2005 has brought Flipside 2 #1 Hits on CBC's Galaxie Radio: Freak the Frequency and Acid the Phenomenon. With all of the above success, one could reasonably assume that Flipside would be comfortable in continuing with the status quo. Wrong.
It was not enough for the man known as MC Flipside to reap the rewards from years of hard work in the international electronic scene. He felt time was ripe to get out of his comfort zone and create a new challenge: stepping into the hip-hop scene and going after the title. Enter MIC Perri the Flipside. Fuelled by his true love and passion for the art of hip hop, MIC Perri's vision is to be known around the world as an MC who can innovate the sound, educate the masses and elevate the standards of this genre in today's creatively stagnant environment. How is he going to do this? He's already doing it.
The strategy is simple. Enlist the services of the biggest producers in the country, collaborate with the most talented musicians in the world and build creative alliances with like minded rappers who embody the same spirit for innovation and who want to take hip hop into the future. His album, Mind Control, is soon to be released and is a testament to MIC Perri's vision to be where hip-hop is going. Featuring club bangers like 'Got Me Freakin' Out' produced by the acclaimed producer Disco D (50 Cent, Trick Daddy, Nina Sky), 'Have A Nice Day' produced by the eccentric and futuristic Ghettoblaster team and a gamut of other bangers that push the envelope lyrically musically and emotionally. Even though Flipside only recently entered the scene as MIC Perri, his progress has been astounding.
