Biography of Desyn Masiello

Desyn Masiello”: A name now synonymous with the most cutting edge dance music from all corners of the world. He has a style that is constantly evolving and pushing barriers... having already caught the ear of some of the worlds largest DJs (Deep Dish, Sander K and Danny Howells nominating him as their ‘future DJ Hero’ in DJ Magazine's Top 100 poll).

The strong force in Desyn's sound enables him to stand out from the crowd. With many established DJs and nucomer DJs leaning towards a particular style and musical range many are pigeon holed into a 'genre' of music. Desyn, however, has managed to establish a sound that crosses boundaries and making his sound impossible to categorize. “I listen to as much music as I can as often as possible… all different types and genres.... From everything I hear I take what I think is the most suitable and meaningful to me; through DJ’ing I join the music into an orgasmic experience for the listener. Orgasmic is a somewhat strange way to describe what I do - but its descriptive. You see with my sets, at first I excite, building them up slowly, teasing you on the way… banging you hard at the end: thus making you explode!”

Desyn incorporates house classics, deep, tech, funky and progressive. His musical taste takes inspiration from acid house, funk, soul, disco, rock, Indie, Brazilian, carnival, reggae, dub... the list is endless. 'Many tracks I find may not be instantly playable to the new generation of dance, music, fanatics. So I use technology such as pro tools to re-edit tracks; they will then fit into my visions and slot into my sets”. Examples of Desyn’s edits that are played (by himself as well as fellow DJs/Producers) have been of Yellow, Blondie, the Eurythmics, The Beatles, Depeche Mode and James Brown.

Desyn's love of house music began in 1989. Born and raised in London he was exposed to the acid house movement at 16. Having bought his first set of turntables in 1990 and working for 9 years as a “computer techie” his passion and real love in life was DJ’ing. Quitting his “techie” job in 2000 for a string of gigs for Sony, a residency at THE BIG MOJO (London) Desyn was heading for his international DJ career.

2001 saw Desyn’s calling skyrocket; with Deep Dish’s exclusive US booking agency, Bullitt, signing him up. 2002 kept Desyn packed with tours and performances. Kicking off the year with a cover mount CD for DJ Magazine (WMC issue), headlining at Glastonbury, performing his notable 6 hour sets around the globe and guesting in venues such as Cream (Liverpool), Gatecrasher, Renaissance (Worldwide) and repeat dates in Privilege (Ibiza).

During the hectic 2003 Desyn embarked on a global tour supporting his Yoshitoshi 3 “In House We Trust” CD. (Venues provided). Performing 80 dates in 100 days, in some of the world’s largest venues, for some of the most renowned companies, sponsors and festivals around the UK, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Malaysia, Asia, Middle East, North and South America. Other highlights throughout 2003 included Sander Kleinenberg selecting Desyn to DJ alongside him at his EVERYBODY night, Ibiza, as well as to join along side him at his party with Sasha, in the Hague.

2003… having already released the highly acclaimed mix CD “In House We Trust 3” (Yoshitoshi), and DJ magazines’ cover mount CD “WMC”, Desyn was steering his firmly established, international label, Alternative Route (house and progressive) to first place. With the first signing (2001) being the mighty KC FLIGHTT 'VOICES' and one of the most recent and successful releases being the colossal Chable & Bonnici 'Ride'. Other releases have included tracks from friends and producers, 16b, PMT, Creamer & K and DJ Vibe. The success of these tracks On Alternative Route are testament to Desyn’s A&R ability to unearth superb originals, both new and old. 2003 saw the launch of Desyn’s second label SEXONWAX co-owned with 16b. The label has already gained international reputation for superb releases from dance legends MR C and Danny Howells (with a second single forthcoming). Having been hard at work in the studio with recognized producers, 16B and Leon Roberts (UBU), the trio otherwise known as “The Idiots”, have made several superb hits.

Desyn’s productions are pointing the way to an exciting future. With his first two singles, The Idiots “Feel The Rush” and “Keep it Real” on Sexonwax both already featuring on Danny Howells' 24/7 compilation; his first remix (Solar Plexus) is exhibited on Deep Dish’s Global Underground (025). Desyn has completed remixes and edits for Yoshitoshi - Brother Brown’s “King’s of Tomorrow', Eddie Amador’s “Psycho Ex-girlfriend” and the merging of “Loudeast and Luzon” (all to be released Mid 2004); The Idiots produced “Dogman”, they have remixed Danny Howell’s, “Spikes” again on Sexonwax; forthcoming also, are two Idiots remixes of “Sharpside“, Belgian Resistance on Renaissance (June 2004)

With Desyn’s 5th WMC under his belt and a Far Eastern tour completed Desyn will be heard from all sides of the world this year. Together with a new mix CD on its way, a Radio 1 “Hot Mix” and “Essential Selection” forthcoming, several productions, accapellas and remixes: Desyn Masiello is certainly one to watch out for in 2004!

Biography of Omid 16B

'I love music... how it can make our emotions flow; how it can change the way we think; the way we love; the way we express ourselves.' Omid16B

Omid16B lives for music. A true talent on the underground scene, cutting edge dance music is like oxygen for Omid Nourizadeh. A DJ, producer and label owner of Alola, Disclosure and Sexonwax Records, he's spreading his passion worldwide - from the UK to the USA, from Europe to Asia and Australia.

Fans range from Sasha to Tenaglia, Francois K to Morales and from Digweed to Danny Howells. Equally important to Omid are his fans on the dancefloor. And he turns them on with superb sets that twist and turn from sexy tribal house through to dark, emotive techno - each set morphing to bring out the best in the crowd.

Of Persian roots, Omid's family immigrated to London when he was just one-year-old. His artistic flair and musical ear developed at an early age - as did his ambition. Influenced by Hendrix, The Cure, Depeche Mode and The Mission, he started playing the guitar at 14, learned how to play drums and bass guitar at 15 and formed his own band when he was 17. Already Omid's tastes were becoming 'more dance than rock, more loops than words, less songs more toons'.

Omid laid the foundations for his own career path and set up Alola Records in 1994. Under his O.R.N moniker, his stunning 'Snow' track was picked up by BMG Deconstruction and Omid's production talents were snapped up by Eye Q, signing his debut album 'Sounds From Another Room'(1988). This album was met with critical acclaim and spawned the hit single 'Water Ride'. Another album followed as $16 Million Dollar Man on Under The Counter before 'How To Live 100 Years' followed in 2002 on the respected Hooj Choons label and a mix compilation for his own label Alola 'Everything all of them every year' (2002).

'The records I make are pretty spiritual. I try and absorb my feelings.' Omid16B

The singles came thick and fast (see discography) - but quality has always been the name of the game. To date, Omid has remixed great artists from The Cure, Gus Gus, John Creamer and Danny Howells to Halo Varga, Morel, Francois Kervorkian and Pete Moss. But once again it's Omid's skills that come to the force.

'Some DJs and producers have their finger on the pulse - Omid16B is the pulse. Music runs through his veins.' Lesley Wright, Editor, DJmag

Looking back at 2004, Omid has been remixing for Francois Kevorkian, Danny Howells, Sapphirecut and Pete Moss. Production wise we've seen the release of 'In between your choice- 2003 mix' and as his guise ORN, remixed and covered the classic 'Small town boy' from the Bronski Beat (see discography).

Having produced and remixed for Sexonwax and several other labels as front man of The Idiots (Omid Nourizadeh, Desyn Masiello, Leon Roberts & Rowan Blades) as well as remixing for his own artists on his label Sexonwax (see discography) he also got handpicked by Deep Dish to mix their acclaimed Yoshitoshi series 'In House We Trust 4' with Alex Neri (Planet Funk), which has been released in November 2004.

For 2005 he's also busy getting creative with The End's Mr C on an exciting album project, a Sexonwax mix CD in the pipeline with his label partner Desyn Masiello, and he will put the finishing touches on his third artists album... all releases in 2005 tbc.

The dance scene wouldn't be what it is today without the commitment and passion of people like Omid16B. Whether it's creating dancefloor destroyers or rocking each and every party, Omid16B is the heart and soul of the underground.

Biography of Demi

A contagiously exuberant character with bags of talent, Demi has made an extraordinary impression on dancefloors the world over. His kindred spirit whose ear for a killer tune has spawned amazing sets and amazing records. His diversity in his performance is both consistent and memorable, always striving to create the whole picture whether over a 2 or 10 hour set. Often found to maintain a steady tempo, Demi works a lot more with the internals of a track to make it 'feel' faster. He knows exactly what he’s doing in terms of creating a journey. This organic approach is never over-thought or planned out, but just oozes out of him very naturally and successfully. It is his humbleness and boundless energy which feeds off anybody who comes across this young man.

His much publicized spell-binding performances with Tenaglia in NYC, Miami and London, certain key gigs with Pete Tong and Laurent Garnier at Pacha, Ibiza and his beloved Deeper Substance residencies he held in London and in Toronto at Boa for a number of years earnt Demi two separate nominations for `Best Newcomer` and `Breakthrough DJ` at the 2004 DJ Pacha Awards and House Music Awards.

Demi is now in-demand globally from promoters and a host of the elite DJ's requesting to have him perform alongside them and is widely acknowledged as being one of the rising stars in the global dance music community.
