When you see great music every week of your life (focus) and you see these amazing DJs cast a spell over the entire dance floor and making you feel the music like no other, you can't help yourself but want to give that to people.
When I first started going to clubs (when I turned 18) I would go to clubs that had house as a second area. Never the priority, but it was always mine. There was no such thing as a house club for the 18-20 year olds out there. There were raves for all ages & house clubs for 21+ but none of those helped me. So when I was 20 years old I started focus on Tuesday nights so I could book the DJs and bring in who I wanted to see down to orange county and share it w/ the 18-20 year old friends I have now.
When we first started, we started w/ a horrible sound system (2 dual 15' speakers and one amplifier). No eqs, compressors, subwoofers, processing of any kind. We were ghetto and we knew it, but it wasn't about that. It was about having a place to groove to house music and at focus we had that. Now focus has 10,000 watts of sound, rivaling some of the best in orange county.
Focus has now grown into one of the biggest deep house clubs in Southern California. We have had some amazing talent step up to those turntables. Marques Wyatt, Dj Colette, Ian Pooley, James Curd, Jamie Thinnes, Andrew Macari, Brett Johnson, Jason Blakemore, JT Donaldson, Mark Grant, Kaskade & Julius Papp...just to name a few.
Well those same turntables are the ones I've been learning on and I have had the honor of learning from some of the best in the industry. I have been blessed w/ many friends and family who have supported me in what I had a vision for when I started focus.
There is just something about house music that has captured me.
