Biography of Facu Cruz
Facundo Cruz was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in February 1987, and has been around music from a small age, growing up in a home filled with the sound of progressive rock, 80's music and bossa nova. At the young age of 6 he received a small piano as a birthday present. This early contact with musical instruments raised his interest in other instruments further in his life.A few years later, at the age of 11, he began learning how to play the guitar, playing mostly rock music, influenced by artists such as George Harrison and The Beatles, forming several bands and perfecting his technique at the Escuela de Música de Buenos Aires..
At the age of 16, driven by his curiosity for Indian music present in albums of artists such as George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, Facundo started studying Sitar and Indian music. At that time he's invited to play live with his teacher, Ariel Chab Tarab.
Some years later, Facundo started to get interested in electronic music and became influenced by the sound of sequencers and synthesizers he had absorbed throughout his teen years thanks to local bands as Virus and Gustavo Cerati or Daft Punk and Kraftwerk. He then began experimenting with his computer recording various instruments and mixing electronic music with his previous knowledge of Indian music.
In the beginning of 2004, he starts working as a DJ in private parties. At the end of that year he plays his first sets in bars and pubs of Buenos Aires. In March 2005 he DJs at Jacko's and other events as the Black fest where he shared the decks with Big Fabio. Throughout the rest of 2005, Facundo concentrates in production, working mainly in mash ups, edits and his first original productions, leaving his live sets momentarily behind, playing occasionaly in bars and clubs. This period left a small amount of tracks like his remix of Kraftwerk's Aerodinamik or his Kate Bush - King of the Mountain vs Dnox and Beckers Jet Lag Slave edit, among other original productions which got the support of artists such as Dave Seaman, Paolo Mojo, Nic Fanciulli, Chris Salt, Nicholas Van Orton, Dj Bia, Big Fabio
