Biography of Skkatter

Hello! My name is Stephen and I live in Dublin, Ireland (but I was actually born in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, up the [insert nickname for Galway hurling team here]!!). In my spare time I try to make music on my computer and I also like remixing tracks that are already okay and making them slightly better, in my opinion. It's not a full time thing as I have to work a full time job to pay for the rent and my flash clothes and my No Added Sugar Alpen addiction.

I've had two remixes of pop tracks (done without the artists invitation or consent) released on V/Vm records and one released on an Australian compilation called 'The Ministry of Shit'. One of the Madonna tracks I remixed was played by Soulwax in some of their sets (according to one of the guys from Soulwax that emailed me) and also on BBC Radio 1 on Mary Anne Hobbs' Breezeblock show, woo woo! Quite a few of my remixed also featured in Strictly Kev's mix on the Ninja Tune's Solid Steel radio show.

I also try to make original tracks but haven't made that many yet. The only original stuff that I've done that has been released is on the Neuromantek compilation CD, it was a track called 'Neuromantek' surprisingly enough. I'm still trying to make more music but I never get enough time to do it. Grrrr.

As well as making music I also DJ quite a bit. I mostly play electro and some (non cheesy, it's very important that I stress this) breaks and techno but I buy loads of different things from loads of different genres so I've ended up DJing at non-electro/techno clubs too!

So far in Dublin I've DJed at the following clubs: Static (in the bar in TBMC for Surgeon and also supporting The Bug in the Shelter recently), Bleep (club ran by Decal and friends, played here loads of times, they renamed it Repeater and I played at that a few times too), Electric City (twice), Backlash (in Wax on Thursdays!), Nylon (four times, supporting DJ Assault once!), Xerox (their bootleg night in the TBMC), Phunk City (when it was at the Funnel, that was my first DJ gig actually), Le Cadavre (that used to be on in Traffic on Tuesday for a while, finished now), Faux Nation (in the Shelter), Let Loose (in Bodkins), Loose Electrix (in the Shelter and at their rave warm up party in Bodkins), and recently at FOOD's new Sketch night in Slattery's. I also have a monthly residency at the Pogo club in The Pod.

So far outside of Dublin I've DJed in Berlin at the Fluktuationsdynamik night on the MS Edelweiss boat (!!) in Berlin as part of the Berlin Love Week. I was DJing with Dan Bell, Volum and ADJ! I've also DJed for Electrotoxic at The Menagerie in Belfast where they bought me lots of pints, skkatter approved!
