Biography of Did Low

Born in Geneva in July 1982, I was twelve when I started listening to music with electronic sounds, from Kraftwerk to Front 242, passing by Depeche Mode! In my teens, I attended many events where different styles of electronic music were played, such as Hardcore/Gabber, Rave, Trance, Jungle and House, before getting hooked on Techno when in 1998 I saw the Japanese group Denki Groove perform live at Roggwil, the main swiss massive rave venue throughout the 90's. That same night I was also left breathless after a live set by The Advent and a dj-set by Miss Djax! How could you not get hooked on Techno after a night like that? At the magnificent Vision open-air festival, held each year high up on pastures in the swiss mountains, I discovered Sven Väth, and from then on I would become an unconditional fan of his. In my opinion, he has done a lot to promote techno music worldwide during his 20 year career, with artists such as Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Luke Slater, Richie Hawtin, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, and many others whom I equally respect enormously! quickly decided to buy my first decks to learn the art of djing, and rapidly got interested in the sound of mythical record labels such as Tresor, Primate, Harthouse, Sativae, Underground Resistance, and Goodlife, to name a few. From then on my music style was pretty much defined, but I also got into slightly calmer forms of electronic music, such as electro and minimal. In 2000, I made my first steps in front of audiences composed of friends before playing in front larger audiences. In 2002, I started playing more and more often at bars and cafés in Geneva, my home town! I set up my website, and through the Internet met many people with the same interest musical as me, leading to me playing a number of semi private parties in studios in Lausanne, as well as some full-on electronic parties. In 2003, I was lucky enough to dj in a number of famous swiss clubs, such as the Loft Electroclub in Lausanne, the Unit Club in Biel, the Zoo at the Usine in Geneva, and appear on a number of flyers for Techno events. I was booked to play the Loft Electroclub again twice, mixing with artists such as Adam Jay, hoping that it won't be my last! Today I have a monthly show on the oldest Internet radio Basic.ch in Geneva, taking my listeners on a journey between Electro and Techno.
