Born in the region of Antwerp Belgium in 1979 to an American father and a half -English- half-American mother, Paul Chambers got into electronic music early in life. At age 15 heborrowed an Atari, a Korg Sampler (DSS1) and an analogue synthesizer (Sequential Pro-one) and started to make music of his own. He soon acquired a pair of technics and a mixer and started both DJ- ing and doing live acts anywhere he could. Basements, warehouses… even abandoned churches…if there was a party in or around the Antwerp area then Paul was there and many times he was on the bill.
Under the influence of legends like Joey Beltram, DJ Hyperactive , Neil Landstrumm and many others, his energetic DJ sets quickly evolved into a mixture of experimental techno, thumping Chicago, screaming acid and abstract blips and beeps which eventually led to bigger events and the occasional gig abroad. One gig in particular led him to Pittsburgh in 1999 where he actually managed to get residency in the small underground club “MEMPHIS.” Upon returning to Belgium he started organizing a series of underground events known as “RESET” in 2000. His goal was to offer something different than the loop based techno that seemed to be taking over the scene at the time…a goal he undoubtedly accomplished with his own more experimental style.
After a few more years of making music and organizing parties he co-founded the label “Souptunes” together with friend and artist “Mr. Van Kurt” in 2001. Together they released “Public Beta” a limited edition split 7” single of which about 500 copies were sold. 2003 marked the year that Paul would start a new series of underground parties that would change his life. “Meltpac” would prove so successful that he was soon booking, be friending and performing next to many of the artists he had always admired. “Neil Landstrumm”, “DaveTarrida”, “Tobias Schmidt”, “Subhead”, “Aeox” and “Cannibal Cooking Club” were all on the bill over the 3 years that followed.
In 2006 “Meltpac” continues to be a huge part of Pauls life, a part he hopes to continue to shape and mould for many years to come. The release of his track “Bitter Cliché” on acompilation for DJ HELLS label “International Gigolo records” in 2007 marks the first time his music will be available for wide release.
