Biography of Jan Hovind

Jan Hovind was born 1974 September 12th in Zurich. His father was from Norway and his mom is from Switzerland.

1989 he had his first experiences with electonic music. He was excited by 'synthesizer greatest' from Jean Michel Jarre.

1991 was a start for him into a new world. Driven by techno beats he spent every weekend in various techno clubs, like the 'Tonstudio Leers' and later the 'Grodoonia' rather then getting some sleep at home.

1995 was when Jan Hovind said goodbye for a half a year and went to Palm Beach, Florida where he bought his first records. When he got back to Switzerland he spent all his free time in record stores and behind the turntables.

1997 was when he became a resident DJ in the club 'Cyber-Ranch' which was a popular after hour's club. At that time he was fascinated with the progressive Techno and soon his sets came on harder and he finaly found his love in the real Techno beats.

In the year 2000, Jan Hovind spinned the first time in a big club. It was in the Rohstofflager in Zurich.

2004 and 2005 a dream came true. Jan Hovind played with 80'000 watts in front of a few hundert thousand people on the etzel truck at the Streetparade in Zurich.

Another highlight was the booking at the Sputnik in the summer 2006. He spinnd together with Hardcell and Grindvik, Advent, Ben Sims, Lucca and other top acts at the Dynamo in Zurich.

At the end of 2005, Jan Hovind started to study mechanical engineering. That was the reason why he reduced spinning. The diploma project he will have at the end of 2008, but he passed the pre-diploma very well and that's why he is back at the turntables now.

A few of his top producers today are Glenn Wilson, Hardcell and Grindvik, Advent, Ben Sims, Cari Lekebusch, Lars Klein, Edelstahl, Hertz, Vincent De Wit, Patrick Skoog, Adam Beyer, WJ Henze, Eric Sneo, Carl Falk, Michael Burkat and Andre Walter.
