Biography of The Abstract Terrorist

Real name: Sean-Michael Yoder

Location: Chico California US

e-mail- zeke@stormnet.com

Styles played:
Ambient, Downtempo, Dub, Electro, Hip-Hop, Retro

Sean-Michael Yoder, a.k.a. Abstract Terrorist, has been a DJ for 17 years, including two years as a pro DJ on the Hollywood after-hours, chill-out circuit. A resident at the monthly Future/Now showcases at Off Limits, Yoder is heavily influenced by his b-boy roots and his deep, passionate love of stark early electronic pioneers such as SPK, Kraftwerk and Cabaret Voltaire. A hint of minor key melody is his trademark, and he says he’s been told that his music sounds like the Velvet Underground colliding with the Bomb Squad at the all-night ghetto blood bank; a ball of bubbling dub confusion with a hefty helping of desperation. Yoder is also the founder of Vinyl Junkie, a specialty section of music that used to reside in Melody Records and is now online at www.vinyljunkie.com, offering hard-to-find vinyl releases catering to professional DJs and serious collectors of hip-hop, house and rave music.

Musical influences:
Stooges, Velvet Underground, Joy Division/New Order, Giorgio Morodor, Nick Drake, Kraftwerk, Fela Kuti, Pete Rock, and DJ Krush. Many more but those are the biggies.

Events played:
Too numerous to mention here. But these days I mostly rock my living room unless DJ Chipy calls me to play at one of his happenings.
