Biography of Joyce Mercedes
Joyce Mercedes is an international DJ of great stature, a star and very talented. She reached number 109 in 2006 in the Djmagtop100. Travelling all around the globe and playing on a very high quality level in the best Clubs and Events, with a huge passion for music. In 2005 and 2006 Joyce Mercedes visited more than 40 different countries. This demonstrates that Joyce M. is exceptionally talented – the best female DJ of progressive house and the 3rd leading female DJ in the world.
She is well exposed in the underground scene and has 'progressive house' in the most pure form in her blood. She loves to be the centre of attention and perform for people. She enjoys stimulating other people's senses, a hypnotist who knows how to stun the dance floor. The marvellous choice of records shows her nose for quality and her exceptional mix-technique is based on a combination of inborn talent and perseverance. The words funky, techy, full of soul, tribal, trancy and psychedelic can all be found in her musical vocabulary. People are waiting for a glimpse of her beauty and for the first beat which makes their hearts rock.
She shared stages with names such as Sasha, Anthony Pappa, James Holden, Paul van Dyk, Chris Fortier and Derrick May. She got her Audio Engineering degree in 2004 at the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) in Amsterdam, followed by the more specialized course in Electronic Music Production.
Her own label called QOC-recordings was brought into the market at the end of 2006. QOC-recordings will release her debut EP, called 'Golden Stars', as for many other promising artists. 'Golden Stars' is containing 2 tracks: 'Golden Glow' and 'Sparkling Stars'. Both tracks are received very well with renowned DJ's.
In 1992 Joyce Mercedes passed her Athenaeum-diploma and started a study Economics. Next to her study in the 90's she started working as a dancer for leading organizations like Pantera and X-tension. This was followed by the 'Strycker & Holmes World Tour' in which Joyce performed a sparkling dance show in some of the most famous clubs in the world, together with her colleague. Her passion for music lies in her dancing as well as in her singing. In 1997-1999 Joyce M. was part of 'Centerfold', a singing group. In 1998 they performed in a sold out Amsterdam Arena during the pause of the classic football game Ajax-PSV. 'Centerfold' also added lustre to the 15th year anniversary of Playboy. Joyce M. also works regularly as a model, featuring in campaigns for Heineken, Campari, Gap-Star, Playboy, MAXIM and FHM magazine.
In 1999 she decided to buy some turntables and try to master the art of mixing. Her first performance before an audience took place in sunny Miami on a private party. Quickly the bookings started to roll in, acuminating in the residency DJ spot at the well known Amsterdam 'Supperclub' and the 2 year 'Space World Tour' to crown it all off. At this moment Joyce M. has performed in almost every famous foreign club in Europe, North America, South-America as well as in the Far East.
