Biography of Apendics Shuffle
[a]pendics.shuffle is but one of many aliases used by LA’s electronic music mastermind Kenneth James Gibson. Since he first began producing in 1997, his style has morphed and expanded into a number of different genres, each released under a different production name (seven to date, with more on the way!) From the glitchy abstract breaks of Eight Frozen Modules, to the minimal dubscapes of Dubloner, to the experimental downtempo electro-house noodlings of Premature Wig, to his recent Hiss and Buzz collaboration with electronic pioneer Jack Dangers (Meat Beat Manifesto, Tino Corp.,) Ken Gibson refuses to be pigeon-holed and is limited only by his own (seemingly limitless) creativity. His consistently exciting and highly prolific output has landed him releases on such diverse and respected labels as Tigerbeat6, Mille Plateaux, and Planet Mu, but it is on Seattle’s ORAC where his four-to-the-floor dancefloor tendencies come out to play as [a]pendics.shuffle. With releases also on Matthew “Saftey Scissors” Curry’s Proptronix and his own label Adjunct (featuring the likes of Bruno Pronsato, John Tejada, and Pheek,) [a]pendics.shuffle busts out moody, dirty, thumping minimal techno aimed squarely at the arse. Recently back in the States after a successful European tour, do not miss this opportunity to witness the man XLR8R magazine has called “an American Richard D. James” in a very special, very LIVE performance.
