Biography of Roko
ROKO is a beginner filmmaker/hardcore cinephile hopelessly in love with Music, Art and Culture, spending a lot of his time mixing the Deep, Dark and Dutty sounds of Dubstep & Grime on his laptop. As well as a digital DJ, he has a history in music through playing electric guitar for the past 10 years. His own musical background ranges from Rock to Black&Death Metal and from there onto Oldschool Jungle, Ragga-Jungle and the rest of the electronic music spectrum. However, musically he is extremely inspired by music from Classical to Blues/Jazz/Funk/Soul, Hip-Hop to Techno, Dub, Reggae, all sort of Metal as well as Experimental Music and the Avant-garde. At the moment mixing-wise the dominating sound is definately the emerging Dubstep & Grime. Earlier ROKO was pushing these sounds in his hometown Helsinki, working as a partner in crime towards a bigger Dubstep scene with fellow Helsinki sub-bass addicts. Now having moved back to London he is playing SUB FM weekly and organising a monthly night B.O.M.B@Cafe1001 on Brick Lane.
