Biography of Kriek
Since 1994 Kriek has been playing his techno style of progressive to experimental before enthusiastic crowds in Berlin and internationally. It all began professionally in 1995-97 with DJ gigs at the Ostranenie New Media Festival in Dessau, Germany; the film premiere of „Earworm“ in Berlin; and the „Multimedia Visions“ exhibition in Berlin/Brandenburg. From 1998-1999 he toured Switzerland 3 times and played at diverse gigs in Germany and in Australia. 2000-2002 saw more dates in Germany as well as in Budapest and at the Clubland Festival in Antwerp, Belgium.
Since 1998 Kriek has been a celebrated Tresor Club resident DJ, and also a member of the Tresor’s Headquarters Team, sponsoring the legendary Wednesday nights in the club. He is also resident DJ in Electric Ballroom, in SO36 Berlin. Noted for his veering toward the visceral pulse in electronic music, his sets can result in an astounding experience in the avant-garde yet also reveal a masterly mixing technique in straight-on, no-nonsense techno music.
His first release was a composition for the Tresor Headquarters compilation CD from 2002 (Tresor.197). Then Tresor launched a new series of Tresor Mixes as MP3 releases and Kriek was the featured DJ on the first volume in May 2007. He has also performed a series of live PA gigs with the “ Schaltstufe” project (www.schaltstufe13.de).
