Biography of Brian Shelton

Originally from Long Island, New York, Brian Shelton spent his teen and college years on a skateboard. Constant injuries and general aging forced him to move on to concentrate on his other passion. Coming from a background of punk rock, heavy metal, hip hop and industrial, he was introduced to the club scene and it stuck immediately. He bought his first tables in 1996. Moving to Astoria, Queens in 1998, and then to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn shortly after, he became involved with the NYC party scene, djing at various nights around Manhattan with like-minded friends. In 2001 he began throwing 'Digital Boogie' parties at the 59 Canal St loft with long-time buddy Peter James (RSSO) and Mike Davis (Cocomachete), which helped build a solid foundation for what would come in the future. As time went on and new friends were made along the way, he became involved with a group of very talented individuals, who would eventually call themselves RSSO, thus beginning a long stretch of amazing parties which continue to this day. At the moment, Brian has also branched off the NYC scene to begin a monthly party in Stamford CT with partner Matt Kinney, it looks very promising. It is impossible to pigeonhole the style of music one should expect in Brian's DJ set. Being a lover of all music, past and present, he will work through various sounds including, but not limited to: techno, house, electrofunk, spacey disco, afro, acid, punk, hip hop, ghettotech, new wave, balearic, dub, and so on.
