DJ Purity Control (aka Chris Purity) has been producing tunes since first experimenting with tracker software in the early 90s (originally under the name 'Red Horizon'). Over time, he has refined his sound into a fusion of dark samples, razor-sharp breakbeats, and booming basslines. The music is classed as 'hardcore breaks' or 'jungle techno', and he is one of the few Stateside-based producers of this style.
While specializing in hardcore productions, his DJing is much more diverse, spanning the range of electronic substyles from jungle to house, techno to ambient, IDM to EBM. Chris was one of the first few DJs to make his mixtapes available over the Internet back in 1996, with his 'Subfrequencies' / 'The Darkside' mix series appearing in primitive RealAudio 2.0 quality on the now defunct 816.com and egroove.com websites. Sadly most of these tapes have now been lost to the ravages of time. He then took 'Subfrequencies' to the airwaves in San Francisco, weekly on KDNZ-USF from 2000 to 2001.
Currently, he is most well-known for his bootleg mashups which have been distributed over P2P software on the Net (please don't sue). January 2006 has seen his first release on vinyl, and his first release on his self-owned record label, Repetitive Beats.
In his spare time, Chris is a moderator on community-built music reference site Discogs.com, futilely supports the Philadelphia Flyers, and works a dead boring office job MF9-5 to pay the bills.
If you are interested in licensing a track for release on your record label, or would like a remix of your tune done, please get in contact with Chris using the Send Message link here or to the left.
