Biography of Astralas
One of the best and most active drum’n’bass DJs and producers in Lithuania. Astralas, the head of Metro Promo brought such drum’n’bass stars as Dieselboy, Technical Itch, Dylan, Robyn chaos, Wild Child to Lithuania. Metro and Arka.drum’n’bass parties are one of the oldest in Astralas motherland.
About eleven years ago Astralas became interested with electronic music, especially in hardcore. The role of passive observer did not satisfied Astralas in rising jungle / drum'n'bass culture, so he began to spin records in 1997. Soon he was noted as a face of a bright future and was invited to play in parties, radio stations, clubs. But DJing wasn't enough to realize his all ideas. So he started to organize small type of electronic music events in 1999 and in the same year the 'Metro' idea was born. By the years running the small underground event became the best yearly electronic music festival.
In 2001 Astralas launched another very successful party serie: 'Arka.drum‘n‘bass.' Small, but very cozy drum‘n‘bass and trip-hop parties became very famous and one of most wanted parties in Lithuania.
Next year biggest Lithuanian e-zine www.ore.lt nominated Astralas as 'The best drum‘n‘bass DJ', 'Most wanted drum‘n‘bass DJ' and 'DJ ..4 of the year.' Yearly electronic music festival 'Metro' was nominated as 'Party the year.'
Talking about 2003 Astralas said that this year was very good even drum‘n‘bass monster Technical Itch didn‘t came to yearly 'Metro.' In same year Astralas joined www.djscene.lt crew and e-zine www.ore.lt second year in a row nominated Astralas as 'the best and the most wanted drum‘n‘bass DJ.' Also he became 3rd in 'DJ of the Year' competition. Festival 'Metro' was second behind massive rave 'Nokia Plug-In.'
2004 are very successful. Mix 'Extreme Engineering Final' became the most famous drum’n’bass mix in Lithuania. With JaZzy and Jenty, Astralas launched portal www.drumandbass.lt, brought to Lithuanian parties such drum‘n‘bass stars as Technical Itch, Dylan, Wild Child and Robyn Chaos. It‘s not all. Third year in a row Astralas stays 'The best Lithuanian drum‘n‘bass DJ' and shares 1st – 5th places in 'DJ Of The Year' competition by e-zine 'ORE.LT.' His yearly party 'Metro' became ..2 in Lithuania and other 'Metro Promo' product 'Manifest' was nominated as 'The party Of The Year' by newspaper’s 'Eime' readers.
After big success of drum’n’bass mix 'Extreme Engineering Final' in January of 2005 Astralas launched his new mix. Only in two weeks time 'Extreme Engineering 2005' became the most wanted drum’n’bass mix in Lithuanian history! In February all fans of drum and bass culture saw their god: Dieselboy. Party called DSL there Dieselboy performed with MC Messinian already have been marked as the best drum’n’bass party in Lithuania ever. In October Metro Promo launched yearly Lithuanian Drum’n’bass Convention party sessions. 2005 was followed by many gigs, very successfuls Arka.drum’n’bass parties. Fourth (!!!) year in a row Astralas stays 'The best Lithuanian drum‘n‘bass DJ' and shares 1st – 5th places in 'DJ Of The Year' competition by e-zine 'ORE.LT.'
