Biography of Kollektiv Turmstrasse
Kollektiv Turmstrasse is a project by Christian Hilscher and Nico Plagemann from Lübeck/Hamburg. It all started as a typical apartment-sharing community in 1999. Both had been infected early by electronic music. Chris through his passion for collecting records and Nico through the early Tracker and Demo scene.
True to the slogan 'Youth explorers' they brew sounds inside the KTS laboratory, influenced by the Basic Channel at that time. Relatively quickly did they fall in love with the upcoming netaudioscene, that was so idealistic and became quickly a new way of publicity for the duo.
KTS produced in silentio until 2004, when no-response.org, a netlabel for free electronic music, was formed. In the following years, new plans were forged and their own sound has been rasped until 2006, when 'Musik Gewinnt Freunde' came into life. Further releases followed on Ostwind Records, Connaisseur Records and of course Musik Gewinnt Freunde.
